Really? My wife and 17 year old son watched it with me, and we thought it was one of the best movies of this past year. It was a little strange, no doubt..... some parts, I thought were "over the top"... but, in the end, the message was: "No matter how strange you are, or messed up... the love of FAMILY trumps all". And, a sub-message was, "Youth believes in all possibilities". Both are OK messages as far as I'm concerned.
My wife and I are huge movie fans. We used to host an Oscars party as our big bash of the year.
But, the quality of the movies has been on a steady slide and the Oscars have turned into a bunch of overpaid undereducated jerks lecturing the rest of us on politics. I used to watch because Billy Crystal was so darn funny, but that's gone now. Tonight, I'm working and monitoring the Oscars on FR and my wife and kids - are at a movie. Neither of us could bear the thought of Algore stealing an Oscar from some deserving (and probably underpaid) documentary director just so Hollyweird could poke President Bush in the eye.
Nothing new..
That list has a reference that those of us in the editing field have been griping about for years. We consider the first cut to be the one we do after the completion of shooting. For years, that was the terminology, and I can assure you that we fought long and hard to keep producers from "consulting" with us.
Several years back, the 'suits' decided that editors don't do really do anything creative like producers do and changed the terminology. The old 'editor's cut' is now referred to as the 'editor's first assembly', allowing producers and directors to take credit for the actual 'cutting'. In truth, the 'first cut' they're referring to is actually the producer's first cut which follows the editors cut and the director's cut.
Where are you guys? Gore was on a long time ago...
Which one?
Watching on DVR. I like to think I can manipulate time....
YOU SAID IT ALL AND I THANK YOU. DO ANY OF YOU EVER THINK THAT SINCE HOLLYWOOD HATES ALL REPUBLICANS SO MUCH, THAT THEY JUST DON'T WANT US TO GO TO THE MOVIES. OR THEY NEVER GIVE A THOUGHT TO IT??

I enjoyed it. Pure, diversionary entertainment, and Meryl Streep was good in it...
I didn't know that but given the fighting I've seen over credits I am not surprised. I tell the story of the little man who fought like a demon to get an EP credit on a small film based on the fact that two years earlier he had introduced me to a guy who later introduced me to the guys I was going to partner with on the project. He made a real pain in the ass of himself and burned every relationship before he settled for a 'special mention' right before the financing fell through.
Nicole Kidman
OMG!!! That had to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen on the Academy Awards!!!
Making Steven Speieilberg take the pic of Clint and Ellen!!!
I'm inclined toward this explanation. I mean, most of those people wouldn't know Friedman from Friedkin and I doubt they have any idea that insulting much if not most their potential audience might impact their industry. The few who might have a clue are so blinded by their hatred of Bush and conservatives they don't care.
Some of these ladies are ultra skinny. They probably just spent 2 weeks at a spa.
The Dancers doing the shadow scenes are AMAZING!..Wow.

"COMMERCIALS."
Just saw a really cute one! An elephant doing shopping for his sick owner, one of those "priceless" Master Card commercials.
Have I missed anything good?
