The town is a Sunni Arab insurgent stronghold some 40 km (25 miles) north of Baghdad in the notoriously violent province of Salahaddin.
My concern was my daughter's boyfriend. He is there and in a dangerous occupation.
Recently a suicide bomber blew up in a truck. It was about one to three football fields away from him and his fellow Wolfhounds. They thought a mortar had hit on the other side of the wall from them. The worst to any of his fellows was broken glass cuts.
Nine Iraqui soldiers were killed. According to my daughter's boyfriend (doesn't the term boyfriend not seem to fit for a fighting soldier) (but, after all, I am a dad). The Iraquis in that town are becoming more hostile to the terrorists. According to the soldier, the Iraqui citizens are communicating to the terrorists that they are not welcome, and they are being asked increasingly harshly to stop killing Iraquis.
Hopefully the hostility to the terrorists is on the upswing. I sure hope he and his fellow Wolfhounds kill every islamofascist with a bullet.
