Reid: Iraq war 'worst foreign policy mistake' in U.S. history

After months of heated rhetoric slamming President Bush's Iraq policy, the Senate's top Democrat moved into new terrain by declaring the Iraq war a worse blunder than Vietnam.

...

White House spokesman Tony Snow told CNN he disagrees with Reid's characterization.

"Yeah, the war is tough. But the solution is not to get out. It is to provide the kinds of resources and reinforcements our forces need to get the job done, and at the same time say to the Iraqis, 'You guys gotta step up.'"

It's a good thing Reid and the other Democrats aren't engaging in any overblown hyperbole ...

"The true issue is, how to get the facts to the majority of Americans before the left can taint reality."

I understand, but since the major media is controlled by people openly support the dems the "facts" are what THEY want them to be.

Until a ABC, CBS, NBC, NYT, Washington Post, etc... is controlled by at least a group of independent or true nonpartisan people, the real truth will never reach the average American VOTER.

Control the media and the education system of a country and you have won.

I agree with that sentiment up to a point. The Internet has released the stranglehold on the free flow of information that the left has enjoyed for decades.

While it would be best to have a major news outlet such as those you listed actually free of the lefts influence, it is encouraging that there are ways around the libs blatant propaganda campaign.

I was wanting to post something that would be removed by the moderator. That would best describe "Pinko" Reid.

Vietnam we lost 55,000 men in 7 years while in Iraq we have lost 3000 men in 4 years.

Vietnam we only instituted a intrim gummit while Iraq has a fully functioning soverign gummit.

The only parallel is that the Dims want to surrender.

Pray for W and Our Troops

bump, and pray that W and some Republicans with cajones decide to start defending themselves. The only failure in this war is the White House's PR campaign and the desertion of the the GOP in congress to battle the lies from the left.

I say again. It wasn't a mistake at all. A mad dog was on the street. He had to go. If the dems want to dig up Saddam and put him back in power they will have to do it over George W. Bush's dead body. I hope.

As for Tony Snow's defense, weak comes to mind. Arguing degrees of mistake plays into Harry's hand. It wasn't a mistake period!!!

"Snow 'disagrees'? Is that what comes to your mind in reading such an absurd statement?

I'm sure Tony by and large says what he's told to say.

But your point is well taken.

After years and years of outrageous lib comments and assertions going unchallenged, I'm starting to believe both sides of the "aisle" go for cocktails together after every congressional session and chuckle at the gullibility of the great unwashed.

I can see Trent Lott hoisting one with Teddy K right now.

From the Clarence Thomas outrage to the Clinton scandals to Fahrenheit 9-1-1 and now this stuff...it can't be an accident that the GOP never, ever offers and effective response or counterattack.

I'm just sick.

And tired.

There are two policy mistakes so much worse than the others that nothing compares and hopefully we will never have anything new that breaks into the top two.

Settling our differences with the war between the states.

Extreme isolation after WW1 leading to the crash of '29, ignoring the rise of Germany, not engaging Japan and allowing the slaughter of innocents in Europe by the Nazis until we were dragged into the WW2. (And obviously the countries of Europe and Asia share the blame here).
