I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.
I don't think so. While Duncan is right on all the issues I've heard him and seen him and he lacks the charisma necessary to appeal to the average voter and defeat Hillary.
Dear Al Simmons,
For folks who genuinely care about the lives of unborn children, and about fundamental human rights, if Mr. Giuliani is the Republican nominee, then we will have already lost the election.
For all of the pro-aborts, I know it's not an issue.
But for us, if we're required to choose between two pro-abort liberals, then we have to start asking the question of what do we do next, now that the Republican Party has abandoned the cause of human rights?
Some folks will likely stay home. I can't blame them much. I'll vote third party, in spite of the catcalls of faux conservatives, rudybots, and faux pro-lifers.
But, we'll have to deal with the fact that if Mr. Giuliani is the Republican nominee for president, then, at least this time out, we've been entirely defeated.
Oh well.
"That is your CONSCIENCE..."
As for what my conscience informs me, it informs me that it is a mortal sin to vote for Rudolph Giuliani for president, and that I would risk damnation to do it.

Render to Caesar that which is Caesar's, and to God that which is God's."
You are getting confused. Let me help you. You are not voting for a Pope of even for your local pastor to lead the congregation. (And Lord knows they are not perfect human beings either.)
If that is the attitude you are going to take, then lock yourself away in a monastery and cut off all contact with the world.
The perfect is the enemy of the good. And inflexibility is a quality which, like all qualities, can be good or bad.
It was a good quality when Winston Churchill stood alone against the Nazi onslaught in the face of annihilation and prevailed.
It was a bad quality when der Fuhrer ordered Field Marshall von Paulus to hold Stalingrad at all costs in the face of the Soviet onslaught because it led to German annihilation.
How can you tell the difference between the two examples in determining which course parallels the one you are about to follow?
Its called discernment.
Dear Al Simmons,
Your attempt at biblical exegesis is funny.
Get back to me when you have an argument to present.

It is not the art of perfection. And you can take your "exigesis" and put it you-know-where.
Your naive foolishness is something that I have (thank God) matured past in my earthly walk.
Dear Al Simmons,
"And you can take your 'exigesis' and put it you-know-where"
My, you seem quite hot under the collar.
What was that you were saying about conscience informing emotions?
LOL.

I see you chose the word "enlightening" with care. I personally have found it dismaying and disheartening. The one place you think people will be on your side turns out to hold a pack of wolves out to destroy what you care about most. Sickening.
Trying to argue rationally with an irrational person is pointless. Forgive me for having tried to do so.
My previous post applies to you too. Good riddance. Go vote for Hitlary for all I care.
Al...You need to retract the attribution, (to RET), in post #33 and properly attribute it to the JAP.
Dear Al Simmons,
"Trying to argue rationally with an irrational person is pointless."
My, what a crushing argument! * chuckle *
"Forgive me for having tried to do so."
If you vote for Mr. Giuliani, it won't be my forgiveness that you'll need.

I can't vouch for the spelling, but that's French. Look it up some time.
Well, since this site (unlike some) does not allow you to go back and edit your posts, I guess that's not possible, is it?
And I think Mia already cleared that up.
And stop slurring the Japanese people. You don't even know if she's Japanese........
These damn people and their principles can be really frustrating, huh? It's a shame we can't all just be cheerleaders for the GOP, instead of demanding that our candidates actually adhere to such antiquated ideas as that nonsense written in the Constitution.
Yayyyyy team!
Dear Al Simmons,
Often, those without a moral compass view those with beliefs in moral absolutes as having an idée fixe.

2. JAP = Jewish American Princess
Its your moral compass that's off my friend...and it has you drifting towards Hitlary's waters....
Dear Al Simmons,
"Its your moral compass that's off my friend..."
It is you who have tried to separate politics from morality.

Re: #2: Apparently my joke flew right over your head (not surprising)
P.S. Mia, if what he says is true then you need to shoot me a Freepmail with your number.....having grown up in NYC I still do have some weaknesses in that regard....and I'll stop right there.
*lol*
Both Rudy and Hillary support abortion.
Both Rudy and Hillary support gun control.
Both Rudy and Hillary support gay marriage.
Both Rudy and Hillary support illegal immigration.
Both Rudy and Hillary support gays in the military.
Both Rudy and Hillary support embryonic stem cell research.
If the only reason you can give me for voting for Rudy is that he isn't Hillary, I may as well vote for myself. I'm not Hillary, I'll prosecute the War on Terror, and I won't support the issues that I don't like.
