Unchecked bigotry, illustrated by this heckler, toward Mormons is unbelievable. If someone stood up and commented about a person's gender, race, etc., the public and media would be outraged. My guess the mainstream media lets this go unchecked.

Heh, no, I don't think that is what *is* happening, just that it could happen. It might just be advertisers looking to sell products.

I'm just saying that my scenario is both plausible (in terms of motivation) and economically feasible. The only thing that really matters is the number of ad impressions, since people can see the ad messages without clicking on them. Depending on the per-click ad cost, you can get several thousand impressions per dollar.

That definitely beats TV ad rates and targets a relatively wealthy, literate, and higher-voting-percentage audience who would be most affected by this type of associative marketing. A political operative for one of the other contenders would not be wasting his budget if he buys ten million impressions of such a message for a measly $5k.

I don't get how Romney pwned the heckler. All Romney did was praise religious diversity and imply that he himself is a man of faith.

Hey sorry about the 'flog my blog.' In all reality I thought there were people who would want to see how the 'Mormon question' plays out in front of a crowd.

The video is telling. It doesn't really matter what Romney said, I doubt anyone really cared, it was that no one in that room wanted to be associated with a outspoken bigot.

Stayed tuned, I believe you will hear much of this addressed, and in a manner you will approve, in a speech before 100+ religious leaders later this month. Mitt wants to address the religion issue directly as John Kennedy did in his speech before the Greater Houston Ministerial Association in September, 1960.

Incidentally, the Orlando Sentinel printed this quote from the incident although I couldn't hear it in the audio:

The crowd booed the man from the room, and Romney responded: "First of all, I believe in God."

As far as the reaction by the crowd to the heckler (loud booing) and the crowd's reaction to Mitt's response (standing ovation), it was very gratifying to witness and what I've been predicting. Americans are very likely to mount a fierce backlash against any person or group attempting to turn our U.S. elections into a religious jihad involving foolish and hurtful assertions that "our Jesus is better than their Jesus". I think we saw a good example of that predictable backlash in this video.

I am sorry, it's just beyond me why my fellow evangelical Christians are so set against a Mormon. Yes, they believe some things I think are silly--it's hard to comprehend how an educated person could accept the Book of Mormon as received Scripture. But the Mormons do take Christ as their Lord and Saviour, God's Son, so what's the problem? We need to get over this kind of thing; we need some unity in our community!

You might be right, but I've been predicting that for two and a half years now and still the pay-per-click industry is growing. There's simply too much demand and it's still much more cost effective than the alternatives. Until that changes, it will continue to grow in spite of the fraud.

I don't think any bloggers are making a profit off blogging, except maybe the really big ones with enough traffic to really matter. The problem is that to make any real money you need to be a full-time blogger, but since you probably will not break $30k annual, for most people intelligent enough to run such a blog, it would be much worse pay than a job.

It's kind of a conundrum of the Web 2.0 age. There's so much benefit to be had from large numbers of people contributing information; but the question is: how do you incentivize people to keep producing? I don't think direct financial incentives like advertising or pay-per-post blogging will work simply because the rewards are too tiny. Oversupply / underdemand. I think the social networks like Myspace and Digg are on the right track though, with social, rather than financial rewards.

Mitt will stress our shared values of faith in God and family and that message will resonate with people of all Christian faiths.

Don't be disheartened or assume the conflict is as great as the Democrat Media would like you to believe. Mitt has made great progress in successful contacts with evangelical Christians already. Many have concluded Mitt is the best choice among the top-tier candidates for people of faith who share common values.

Take a look at the Evangelicals for Mitt website if you haven't seen it already. There is some really good information at that site. David French, a Harvard-educated lawyer who works for the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) which is James Dobson’s organization fighting the ACLU, is a co-founder of the website.
