Quote of the Day-----John Murtha (It's a doozy)

Posted on 02/16/2007 1:52:54 PM PST by Dog

'They won't be able to continue. They won't be able to do the deployment. They won't have the equipment, they don't have the training and they won't be able to do the work. There’s no question in my mind.”

– John Murtha

"Am I the only one who is heartsick at what has become of us as a nation..
How did it get to this point."

Just before I left college in the middle of my second year to enlist in the military, I remember asking my fiance (while we were fighting the effects of tear gas as we tried to walk to class), "What will our country be like when the people who are involved in the rioting, destruction and anti-American rhetoric are in positions of power?"

Unfortunately, we are realizing the result of the patient, incremental influx of socialism and anti-American philosophy that has brought us to this pathetic point.

How are we going to get out of it?

It says something ugly about Americans today that they haven't cast this creep into a dark place of wretched ignominy. Something vital's amiss.

" I hope those Republicans who stayed home in '06 to "teach their reps a lesson" are taking note."

The repubs have no one to blame but themselves.
If we're going to win the WOT, setting Iraq aside for now, it may be necessary to put a democrat in the White House. That locks them into fighting the WOT and the rest of us can support the troops.

Maybe we can at least come to the realization that the feel good liberal pap we have been fed in the last thirty-odd years isn't getting us anywhere, and we need to scrap it and find something different.

As others have said, no...

I've long maintained we're dying as a nation. This isn't the killer, of course, but it is another nail in the coffin...

It is worth noting that every generation or so, we apparently have to go through a "democrat revival" so the populace remembers yet again how things are when these guys are at the reins. Although certainly not pretty, the upside is it did happen during an off-year election, so things certainly could be worse.

We need to have bloggers, at the very least, who are there or quite near the action, so as to give us at least one valid source of information that can be used to counter the daily poison that is rationed to us by the MSM.

We need more intellectual activity in the print media, on radio, and yes - even on TV. As was the case in 1980, we must become the people with ideas, and we must argue these ideas quite forcefully and persuasively.

With the daily din the MSM generates, we don't shout over it - we slice through it.

We need a lot more right-wing agitation on college campuses across the nation. It doesn't have to get noticed nationally at first, it just has to get noticed on that campus. That way, we can move from there.

The MSM deigns to ignore us. We must return the favor. We have 2 years (thereabouts). We must embrace the left's old dictum of all politics being local. We must be local everywhere. We must be the ground to the MSM's trees. It is from us that all growth must, and will, ensue.

Obviously, we must organize at all levels. The Right's best thinkers (and their number is legion) must step forward now and begin building the intellectual battering rams that will be successfully employed 12 - 18 months from now.

Pre-election 1980 was an exciting time, for this guy, anyway. True, we had a giant among men emerge for that contest, and that admittedly helped matters along a great deal.

It is not a particularly good strategy to expect the emergence of another such giant this time around, but who is to say it can't, or won't, happen? Still, we must do these things as best we can, and given that we are indeed the backbone of this nation, that effort still oughta be pretty damn good.

CA....

I've just received the following message via FReepmail, translated from French:

==================

Dear KG9 Kid,

I extend my deepest apologies to you and your great nation.

I was a bit out of breath at the time and flinched my shot, barely nicking him. It's been eating at me for decades.

Kindest regards,

Duc Phuc Nghiem
Corporal, People's Revolutionary 80th Provisional Infantry Regiment (ret'd.)

P.S.: The other decoration is a fraud. That big fat sissy cut himself shaving. I saw the whole thing in my binoculars.

If I had a son over there, well, I'll put it this way; I would find it REALLY HARD to pray for mr. murtha.

I saw one Iraqi sheikh in Anbar pay his respects to a fallen American soldier, an infidel. Such a display of respect from a Muslim is huge. Iraqi sheikhs who do that risk their lives when they help us. Would they do it so willingly if they were expecting us to leave?

Such courage is beyond Democrat comprehension but viscerally reminds them of their total lack of humanity, so they crap on it. These cowards make me puke.

"How did it get to this point."

None of those reasons, valid as they are, are viable without that greatest of American institutions - the media. TV especially.

So many of us sit idly by, transfixed by the flashing image coming from the box. They become unthinking, unquestioning, pliable vassals to the "elites" that grace the screen.

"Treason"?

I think so, but the courts will call it freedom of speech.

I am gradually losing my temper control over this stuff, and at some point, a Democrat is going to feel my anger personally and in the face.

This is gonna sound really cynical but we got here because the American public is fickle.
Check this graph of the Presidents approval.

The President had low approval. Then after 9/11 the public suddenly approved and demanded action. Congress authorized it for Iraq because Afghanistan went so well. The public supported the President. When the war dragged on the public support stopped.

Micromanagement .. Waging War dem style.

BRILLIANT!

not

What could possibly be wrong with each and every troop having to phone Geema Peelousy for permission to fire each and every round to defend themselves and us?

When is someone gonna quote Murtha except turn it around and speak against our enemies the way the rats speak about US?

>>>How did it get to this point. <<<

There is no single reason, but inattention to what our schools, both K-12 and Universities, have been teaching in the past 20 years has a lot to do with it.

That and politicians without principle and values....except power.

Some felt the need to teach the Republican Party a lesson

Some are still considering doing it again in '08. I have read posters here say they will vote for Hillary before ever voting for a Giuliani.
