WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Democratic-controlled House issued a symbolic rejection of President Bush's decision to deploy more troops to Iraq on Friday, opening an an epic confrontation between Congress and commander in chief over an unpopular war that has taken the lives of more than 3,100 U.S. troops.
The vote on the nonbinding measure was 246-182.
Resolution criticized President Bush for his decision to send more troops to Iraq is a rare admonishment of a wartime commander-in-chief.
"The passage of this legislation signal a change in direction that will end the fighting and bring our troops home," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the vote when she endorsed the measure that takes issue with Bush's decision to send an additional 21,500 U.S. troops into battle.

Ron Paul has been vocal on his anti war stance.
Ron Paul votes with the other traitors today rebuking the President on Iraq.
For those FReepers who have supported this wingnut, when are you going to get a clue he is no better than Murtha and that bunch.
I oppose any such resolutions. Either defund the war completely or WIN IT. There is no in between, ask Yoda.
Thank You! I will forward to my nephew.
Exactly.
He will create more problems for himself than he ever dreamed of if he keeps doing things like this.
This one alone might be enough to do it.
The Rep. would not remain in office very long.
________
So?
What you advocate is Populism, not a Republic.
The Congresscritter should communicate with the people in their district and make the case for what is right.
I live in a very conservative area, and we have a 'conservative' dem representative. He almost always votes to the right on every major issue. I saw that he voted for this crap resolution. I almost feel betrayed, but he is a dem after all. He may be hearing from constituents who aren't happy with the war. I rarely meet anyone who supports the war, and this is a locality that Bush carried by 75%. It seems people have been brainwashed by misinformation and negativity by the media.
He's just another Pat Buchanan. A Protectionist extremist.
He's gone so far right, he came back out on the left.
Write to him.
EVERYONE: this is just the first battle of a long war, I am afraid.
HEY! Stop making rational arguments!
This thread is about name calling and piling on!!!
How dare you point out that there are congressmen who sometimes actually represent their constituents!
did any of the "conservative" democrats from the Texas vote for this Bullsh#t..???
I noticed that right off - what's with this clown.
I hope so. I want him gone NOW. He just took Lindsey Graham's place as my least favorite SC politician.
Ron Paul teamed up with Dennis Kucinich on the war issue long ago.
Almost every Democrat voted for it.
Any one know who they (RINOS) are?
I see that my congress"man", Marion Berry of Arkansas, aligned himself with Kucinich, Murhta, and McDermott. He will hear from me in the next few minutes, though I doubt he will be phased by my disgust any more than he was my plea to do right by our troops and vote against this POS resolution.
The Arkansas Republican Party is in one helluva shambles, but we simply MUST defeat this foolish traitor. My goal is to find a viable opponent, and work tirelessly for Berry's defeat.
You have my sympathy. Many conservatives were duped by that "conservative" Democrat ruse.
Some here even admit that they voted out the old 'RINO' for a "conservative". The were reluctant to admit that they voted for a Democrat.
They got just that. A Democrat.
