Make our day, Russkie b*st*rds!

They just want to bring back medium range rockets. It is a logical way to neutralize new missile installations near Russian borders. Knowhow and technology is already there, possibly the old missiles in storage can be brough back to working order without much hassle.

Putin is nothing more than a tin pot dictator. Seems like the world is breeding them now, ala Chavez.

A new arms race = more arms = more taxes = less money in my pocket to protect a section of the world that likes us one minute and hates us the next.

F 'em and the shield.

Russia is saying if you help our neighbors protect themselves from our missiles we will build new missiles.

They certainly sound committed to peace.

Well they never have been and never will be committed to peace.

We should also pull out, seeing as how we are not in an agreement with them. The agreement we signed was with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, which is a completely different entity than what exists today.

The stable peace is based on balance of power.

Disparity can tempt stronger side to use force as easier method or tempt weaker side to strike first out of fear.

I can't wait until rivers of hot fresh urine flood the capitals of Europe when Pootie decides for the good of Russia to accept a third term. You know, defend Mother Russia, enemies all around, I'll do it for no pay....that kind of leadership.

Politics is like chess and to play it well you need to be able to put yourself into your opponent shoes. Otherwise you will be constantly in the state of being surprised. :)

Well since we usually don't strike anyone without good reason, as history has shown, this logic is totally flawed. Our benevolence is self evident despite many claims to the contrary. Anyway just go ahead and tote the demon-rat party line that the defense shield is technically impossible. We will build it, it will work, the world will be a safer place for it. BTW weakness and fear can motivate these actions but can also motivate many other positive ones as well. We will have to hope for the best but have the ability to deal with the worst!

Usually is the key word. But in politics cannot take anything for granted. Nothing can substitute for balance of power as Serbs learned in 1999.

Our response should be. "If Russia wasn't trying to give Iran nukes then we wouldn't have to put it in place."

Simple yet I think perfectly sufficent.

Balance (equality? I think you mean?)is impossible in the real world as socialists and many others have yet to learn. All in all we have shown out primacy in matters of moral leadership. Not many are willing to recognize this but it is the truth none the less.
