Putin is nothing more than a tin pot dictator. Seems like the world is breeding them now, ala Chavez.

A new arms race = more arms = more taxes = less money in my pocket to protect a section of the world that likes us one minute and hates us the next.

F 'em and the shield.

Russia is saying if you help our neighbors protect themselves from our missiles we will build new missiles.

They certainly sound committed to peace.

Well they never have been and never will be committed to peace.

I can't wait until rivers of hot fresh urine flood the capitals of Europe when Pootie decides for the good of Russia to accept a third term. You know, defend Mother Russia, enemies all around, I'll do it for no pay....that kind of leadership.

Our response should be. "If Russia wasn't trying to give Iran nukes then we wouldn't have to put it in place."

Simple yet I think perfectly sufficent.

It appears that Putin is becoming more and more enamored of the "glory days" of the Soviet Empire, and is becoming more and more agressive in his efforts to restore what is left of Russia's pride and strength. Given their current birthrates, he's going to need a lot more than a few discarded treaties to accomplish that.

The USA should withdraw from the 1967 UN Outer Space Treaty. Let's have no treaties anymore except those that further commerce.

The announcement is meaningless, except as propaganda, which is its intent.

Putin knows well that as a matter of international law, "Russia" is not bound by this treaty, nor by any other treaty signed by representatives of the Soviet Union, as that nation no longer exists. The US is not bound by it either, just as we are no longer bound by the ABM treaty.

I'm beginning to think that Putin looks up to his business partner Mahmoud.
