What's your source on Fitzgerald's political affiliation?

It's a perjury trap for Mitchell, Gregory and Russert. Tee hee. ;-)

You do not really believe Fitzgerald is doing that, do you?

No. I may have worded it wrong...

Libby's lawyers can use the publication timeline information to expose lies by Russert etal, when they said they only knew the info about Valerie after Novak's column was published on Monday.

Oceanview's post in 137 completely overrides your specioius, spinning contention in #134 about "everybody knows" having to do with just Wilson. (Elsewhere, Andrea Mitchell, etc.)

Your "why trouble yourself with what the participants say .. [in] conversation, when it can be spun some complete other way?" presciently has four fingers pointing back at you!

It seems to me if Fitzgerald sees this prosecution 'going south' he may want to claim 'high ground' turn 180 degrees and seize Russert. It seems it would be easy to do.

Document Armitage to Woodward....'everybody knows it'....

Remember Russerts denial is antecedent to the production of this tape by the defendant which was taken at a time when there was nothing on the wind regarding an investigation and thus is believable.

It is easier to believe 2 guy shooting the breeze (Armitage and Woodward) than the contortions which NBC new hacks have been jumping through.

Now put out the threat that Russert is being called back to the stand.

Now call Andrea Smith,..play her own words to her (and the jury)...play Armitages words to her and the Jury....play her words she spoke on Matthews show which was the same thing she said to Imus....Then ask her if she wants to deny her previous three statements to the jury...and say she 'screwed up'...but do it with the inference that Mr.Russert is going to be recalled to 'clarify' his statements previously made on the stand....

I think she would piss her leg....

Then call Russert to the stand, if you can dicombobulate her remarks enough to make her either flip or make her look like the idiot liar she is.

Either way, Russert is could fall into a perjury trap. If he feels threatened, he may give up who he was trying to protect when he flagrantly, unabashedly, and without remorse lied to put an innocent man in the penetry.

It might be the DNC, Rob Emanuel, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton.

I am just spitballing here, but that all follows and makes sense if you understand what these heathens are capable of doing.

Exactly.

And then overlay the players in this tableau with the ones in the Mary McCarthy/Dana Priest CIA leak stories.

Bingo, you've identified the the rebels in the CIA trying to take down a legitimate government. But none dare call it Treason....

Sadly, I do not believe Fitzgerald is anything more than he seems to be....an opportunist who is willing to destroy lives of Libby and his family without regret or remorse.

I think Libby is collateral damage in a scheme to bring down the current government. Libby just happened to present a target of opportunity in this round of the game, imo.

He knows the game, and has played it a bit himself. (Se Mark Rich.)

They are all locked in life and death struggles and know what monsters they unleash upon themselves when they submit their applications for White House jobs.

I wonder what kind of people will be interested in those jobs in 10 or 20 years.... How sad. :-(

A Democrat is what many Chicago-area Republicans really are. The dims have had such an overwhelming presence in the Windy City, with their excess manpower, they would infiltrate the Republican party, letting them tremendously skew the voting, as 'Pubbie poll watchers were actually Dims.

OK (I respect you by the way, even though we disagree):

what do you make of the development that Libby will not testify?

I think it is odd. My overall take on what I've read of the testimony is that it didn't go well for Scooter. I can buy "I forgot until Russert said that, and I was surprised, but then I remembered talking about it with Judy, and I think I grabbed that CIA guy out of a meeting shortly after I learned it, and me and Cathie talked about it, and maybe a couple of others. Ari? Don't remember."

But to say "I forgot that VP told me, then I remembered that, but I didn't remember the 7-8 other times I talked about it, even the same week as Russert" is a bit of a stretch.

And - here's my real - and only - defense of Fitz. I think Libby left him little choice. He let Rove come back five times to straighten out the kinks in his story. But Libby stuck hard to his. I think Fitz wouldn't have charged him if he'd done the gradual coming clean that Rove reportedly did.

Baltimore is considering changing the rules for election judges. Until now, each precinct needed at least 2 of each party. Now they'll make it only one from each party. In the practically all Dem city, even that's hard to come by. They'll probably go the way of Chicago if needed. scary

Due to work shifts that vary from 5AM to 11PM (nine hour shift), on any given day(s), I have not been able to keep track anywhere as much as I would like on these type posts. But thanks for the ping.
Regardless of what is now starting to circulate, it would appear Scooter will not get off the hook. If the court does not recognize Libby simply mixed dates/times due to memory loss, then the perjury charge will hold.
And Wilson continues to zoom around with his scarf around his neck. The guy is lower then whale *hit. But we already knew that.

That's the show to watch!
Matthews says some of the best BS on this subject I've ever heard.

I.E. - "These cretins in the White House need to be held accountable for getting us into this illegal war and this trial will show how they manipulated intelligence to accomplish that goal'. (WTF?)
