"That cursed Israel is trying to destroy al-Aqsa mosque...Nothing will work with Israel except for a nuclear bomb that wipes it out of existence." Mohamed el-Katatny of President Hosni Mubarak's National Democratic Party (NDP) told the Egyptian Parliament.
During the special parliamentary meeting, which was convened to discuss controversial renovations near the Mugrabi Gate in East Jerusalem, other members of el-Katatny's party called to revoke Egypt's 1979 peace treaty with Israel.
"The war with Israel is still ongoing whether we like it or not," NDP legislator Khalifa Radwan said.
Mohamed Amer, another ruling party member, said: "What this (Israeli) gang is doing makes me demand that we trample over all the agreements we signed."
The parliament has little say in national security issues or foreign policy, ultimately dictated by Mubarak who has rejected similar calls in the past.
'Incitement for political gains'
Israeli leaders have stated that the works, meant to fortify an existing structure outside of the Temple Mount, are causing no damage to Al-Aqsa mosque and that Arab claims to the contrary are nothing more than incitement by extremists.
Last week, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said "There are irresponsible people, who know perfectly well that there is no damage being done to any holy site, who are abusing the Israeli democracy to incite religious sentiments for political gains."
Nonetheless, Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski suspended construction late Sunday night in response to recent Arab-Israeli protests and Israeli authorities said on Monday they would reconsider the planned construction work near the mosque.
There really arent that many trains in Arab land that need Engineers.
And render Israel as uninhabitable for millions of years? Smart move there buddy...
An errant misplaced few thousand pounds of confiscated semtex
or other terrorist materials should find their way to this temple mount idol.
One simple stfu and stfd moment could help these islofacists
get their priorities in order.
That was my first thought, too.
If Iran were to launch one, it would be a hoot if it went off course and landed in Mecca.
You mean this digging Israel's doing might cause the collapse of a mooooooooslim mosque? Hey Israel if you run low on shovels I'll gladly donate one of mine !!!
They probably think "Allah's nuke" will only kill Jews and infidels.
I worked for one of the largest Engineering companies in the South. We had two Iranian dingbat engineers working there. Complete *&^%$. I am for a nuclear solution, how about one on Egypt, Saudi, Iran, Syria and so forth.
If there was ever a showdown, iron bombs can take out the Aswan dam and flush Egypt into the Med.
The temple of solomon will be rebuilt. This is israel's land not the muslims. Islam is all lies and complete rubbish.
But you have to understand Islam. Their religion is predicated on the principle that their god can beat up our God. Any "defeat" isn't defeat, it's a setback. They will never concede defeat because to do so is anathema to their religion. Therefore, the very existence of Israel is the worst possible thing that could have happened--they lost land to the Jews. They will do anything--absolutely ANYTHING--to correct this situation... even lose a mosque.
What I can't understand is why the Israelis don't just say this, and also threaten to completely shut down the mosques if any violence continues.
"Nonetheless, Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski suspended construction late Sunday night in response to recent Arab-Israeli protests and Israeli authorities said on Monday they would reconsider the planned construction work near the mosque."
There you go! Just another capitulation by the world to the Muslims! We are well on our way to the end of civilization! Thanks to the Religion of Peace and the Spineless Politicians.
It isn't, pure and simple. IMHO, Israel ought to bite the bullet and kick the Waqf off of Temple Mount altogether (though, with this Israeli government, I'm not holding my breath). Why on G-d's green Earth are there even desecrations of Temple Mount like Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Crock in the first place?
Let them riot - who cares, they're going to riot sometime soon anyway, Israel might as well give them a good reason to riot (i.e. get something worthwhile out of it, instead of all the rioting and criticism for no return at all).
Personally, I'd like to see the Israeli PM get on live TV and say, "you see this construction work off of Temple Mount that we're doing...that ***doesn't*** do anything to harm Al-Aqsa Mosque. Now, on the other hand, ***THIS*** [view cuts away to explosives being set off, with huge dust cloud resulting, followed by rapid series of booms] does something to harm Al-Aqsa Mosque. This demonstration was for educational purposes, just so that all of you moon-worshippers out there would know the difference. Oh, and ***THIS*** [view cuts away to explosives being set off around Dome of the Rock, with huge dust cloud resulting, followed by rapid series of booms] shows what an actual attempt to destroy the Dome of the Rock looks and sounds like...again, just so that you know that we weren't doing anything at all to bother you goat-humpers for the past 40 years in Holy Yerushalayim. Oh, by the way, the cornerstone for the Third Temple will be laid in approximately 2 days, once all of this unholy crap is removed and taken to the nearest pig farm for disposal. Anyone that wants to come and stop us is welcome to try - we've got hundreds of nukes and the IDF/IAF ready and waiting, not to mention one L-rd of Hosts."
OK, OK, some I have an active imagination - I can actually imagine a pro-Jewish Israeli government, something that hasn't been seen for over 2,000 years.
There's the problem right there - the government of the only Jewish state on Earth asking the permission of someone other than rabbis to do something on or near to Temple Mount. It is like the US asking North Korea for permission to build a by-pass road around the Washington Monument. My solution is in Post #38.
Yes Sir Barney Fife. Right away!
