LANSING, Mich. (AP) More Michigan residents have a favorable opinion of Republican presidential candidates John McCain and Rudolph Giuliani so far than they do of Mitt Romney, according to a poll released Friday by Lansing-based EPIC-MRA.
Fifty-nine percent of the 600 likely voters surveyed statewide said they had a favorable opinion of McCain, while 55 percent said the same of Giuliani and 38 percent said that of Romney.
The poll, conducted Jan. 31 through Feb. 8, had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points and sampled voters of all political stripes, not just Republicans.
Romney's lower numbers might be attributable in part to the fact that he's the least known of the top three GOP contenders, even though his father was governor of Michigan from 1963-69. Nineteen percent didn't recognize his name, while McCain and Giuliani's names were recognized by all but 3 percent.
Twenty-six percent of those polled had an unfavorable opinion of McCain and Giuliani, while 18 percent had an unfavorable opinion of Romney. Twelve percent were undecided about McCain, 16 percent about Giuliani and 32 percent about Romney.
On the Democratic side, 50 percent had a favorable opinion of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, while 45 percent had an unfavorable opinion and 5 percent were undecided.
Eleven percent didn't recognize the name of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama. But among those who did, 47 percent had a favorable opinion, 18 percent had an unfavorable opinion and 24 percent were undecided.
Heard that loudly and concur - so is it a race to the right or left for the opposition?
My notion is that our opposition will select its nominee from the same crapbag as they always do. (See Kerry-Edwards, senators.)
Hillary may quite well be elected POTUS in a popular sense, but she'll never be Commander-in-Chief. That's my prediction.
There will be countless millions of typical union/lib/freeloader/welfare/hatemongers/ad nauseum dolts that give her the blind lever but will change their minds at the last second and then lie to spouse or sibling as it has been announced and promulgated by the MSM that career mass resignations from the various branches of our military are concurrent with the election and nomination process.
That's the Hillary killer.

McCain
Bite your tongue!
I don't think McCain will be the nominee and I don't want him to be the nominee. I really don't think that McCain would get the middle voters, they would go over to Hillary. McCain has too many negatives which Hillary wouldn't fail to exploit.
My tinfoil theory ( which may not be very from the truth, tinfoil or not) is that the MSM, a wing of the DNC, is pushing McCain, trying to make us think he is viable. But when he would get the nomination, Hillary would make mincemeat out of him and waltz into the White House.
Of the current Republican candidates I think Giuliani has the only chance to beat her. If other strong Republican candidate would emerge, then things might change. I think Jeb Bush would be a great candidate, except for the handicap of his name being Bush. But wouldn't it be interesting another Bush going against a Clinton?
I think your theory isn't that wild at all. :')
from a year ago, my prediction:

and our dear departed (from FR) friend FairOpinion’s rejoinder:

I didn’t agree with FairOpinion much and then he got banned. I do, however, agree with this assessment he gave:
But when he would get the nomination, Hillary would make mincemeat out of him and waltz into the White House.
However, it’s starting to look like Obama could take the democrap nomination and it’s just too close to call at that point; I think it depends upon events which will happen between now & November, such as the economy and progress in WOT.
