I've wondered why folks from the burbs would come downstate to buy cars. Some rural counties downstate the sales tax is only the state minimum 6.25%
Cigs are between 6 to almost 10 bucks, depending on where in the city.

Indiana wants to raise the cig tax here and put the funds into medicaid, and for healthcare for those who do work but their employers don't provide insurance coverage.

An example of misguided tax policy can clearly be seen in the case of New York/New Jersey.
New Jersey sales tax is lower than that of New York, so New Yorkers make the short drive to New Jersey to buy big ticket items: sofas, appliances and the like.
New Jersey has much lower gas taxes...I happen to have to drive through New Jersey to get to work in New York. Guess where I only buy my gas? You guessed it...New Jersey.
Actually it's our GOP governor that wants to raise cig taxes. He considers long term cig use a drain on the economy with the healthcare expenses related to emphysema, bronchitis, lung cancer, etc. He wants to raise the "sin tax" of cigs, and the Dems would only go along with it as long as it went to fund healthcare.
Yeah, the Moonbats here keep hassling the Guv about "selling off the state to furriners!"
