WASHINGTON, Feb. 8, 2007 — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., today responded to Republican critics who have accused her of making unreasonable demands on the Pentagon for a luxurious airplane her Republican predecessor never requested.
Pelosi charged that the Pentagon is treating her request for a military plane differently than that of her predecessor because she is a woman.

But while the C-20 could fly to Hastert's Aurora, Ill., district, which is slightly more than 700 miles from Washington, D.C., without stopping to refuel, Pelosi's home district is in San Francisco, more than 2,800 miles from the nation's capital, and the C-20 generally would need to stop and refuel to make it all the way to the Bay Area. So Pelosi requested a plane that could make it to California without having to stop along the way, and asked for clarification from the Pentagon about whether friends and colleagues could accompany her.

How can she sneer at the folks in fly-over country if you don't let her fly over?
If she had to land and refuel *shudder* it just wouldn't be the same!
Just stick her head out of the plane window at about 40,000. That should lift her face. LOL

I'm thinking of a C-130 with canvas seats, loaded with a platoon of paratroopers geared up for a tactical jump. Nap of the earth flight from DC to San Fran interrupted only by mid air refueling. With no inconvenient stops, she should make it in ~ 10 hours. Give her a good chance to chat with the troops she so strongly supports, and give them a chance w/o a lot of chain of command around, to tell her how much they appreciate her support. Best part is that at the end, they all get to jump out of the plane over San Francisco. Hope someone remembers her parachute......
She's clearly overcompensating for something.
And BTW, even if she used Hastert's exact one, there are like eight or so military bases along the way to refuel at.
Give the SKANK a crop duster and tell her to get lost!
Or better yet... a jet pack and a map of the United States..Get Lost Pelosio!
The {expletive} Pelosi can fly commercial coach - it's good enough for 99.9999% of the other government servants. I think she needs to be reminded of that fact - she is a public servant not a feudal lord. She only needs a bigger plane to carry around her ever-expanding ego.
She gets a bigger plane, I hope to h*ll the pilots are military. If I were them, there would not be one single cross-country flight that wasn't interrupted for a precautionary landing. "Honest, we got an intermittent warning light here in the cockpit. Flight safety rules, particularly while carrying someone of your importance, require a precautionary landing." Then I'd set down at the most out of the way, backwater no-name place I could find. It'd take hours to get a replacement plane and crew there, or a certified mechanic to check out the aircraft...
I think there is a safety issue here.
While on paper the C-20 has the range, safely maybe not.
I don't know how the AF would fly this but the airlines have a rule that goes something like this.
The plane has to be able to make its destination plus an alternate plus 30 min or maybe 1 hr of fuel.
What's wrong with you people?
Co-President Pelosi needs a big airplane so that, like Air Force One, she can be seen coming out the door onto the top of the ramp to wave to the admiring hordes. Lkewise upon leaving town, she needs the same photo ops as her co-President, Bush.
You can't get that imagery from a lousy small coroprate jet.
Yes, we are not worthy.
And I am blessed to have been born in the same state as Her Majesty.
