WASHINGTON, Feb. 8, 2007 House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., today responded to Republican critics who have accused her of making unreasonable demands on the Pentagon for a luxurious airplane her Republican predecessor never requested.
Pelosi charged that the Pentagon is treating her request for a military plane differently than that of her predecessor because she is a woman.
.....
But while the C-20 could fly to Hastert's Aurora, Ill., district, which is slightly more than 700 miles from Washington, D.C., without stopping to refuel, Pelosi's home district is in San Francisco, more than 2,800 miles from the nation's capital, and the C-20 generally would need to stop and refuel to make it all the way to the Bay Area. So Pelosi requested a plane that could make it to California without having to stop along the way, and asked for clarification from the Pentagon about whether friends and colleagues could accompany her.

Okay FReepers help me out here. ABC is saying a C-20 can't make it to San Fran and back, yet here earlier today, and other sites around the net, I have seen spec sheets on it stating that it can, such as this one:
http://www.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?fsID=87
Range: C-20B, 3,698 nautical miles, C-20H, 4,220 nautical miles Distance to S.F. - ~2,500 nautical miles
So, is ABC mincing facts? Blatantly lying? Or do I have my aircraft confused?

Yes, the MSM is right on this one, splashing as much white-wash spin on it as they can -- again we thank the voters that made all this possible.

It can make it to China if it refuels.

Maybe the C20 can't make the distance to San Francisco carrying the dead weight of her staff and relatives.

A guy called in on the local talker a few minutes ago about this same thing. Stated the same numbers you posted here. And, he said that these figures allow for a head wind.

Well, A G3 can do the trip with no problem. Well within its range so unless someone got their facts wrong about the type that Hastert used, this is total BS. She wants the 757 for the photo ops and her over sized ego.
They just don't make this stuff up...

On a winter day when the jet stream is roaring across the country, the plane might not make it without refueling. Then again, sometimes even JetBlue's A320s can't make it across the country without refueling on a bad winter day. And some of Continental's 757s have a hard time making it across the Atlantic to Newark if the jet stream is brutal. They'll stop for fuel, often in Labrador.

Cost? Carbon footprint? B-757 vs. a Gulfstream? We, the people, should feel honored to adore her highness regardless of the cost. Isn't she worth it? Isn't she better than the rest of us? How can we, living in the flyover lands, ever hope to understand her needs? To think she only wants a B-757, why, she is such a humble servant. Truly, we are lucky to be blessed with her. How can we serve you, Madam? May we serve you, oh Blessed One?

If she really raised the fact that she's a woman, she's a total leftwing lightweight jerk.

the C-20 could fly to Hastert's Aurora, Ill., district, which is slightly more than 700 miles from Washington, D.C., without stopping to refuel... I see Pelosi's mistake now.
Hastert was able to make it home in just a couple of hours, but Pelosi's trip would take 6 hours, which isn't fair. She should be able to be home in the same time that her predecessor took. Therefore, Pelosi needs an orbital flight that can get her home in under two hours, too.

I heard today on Brit Hume show that she is going to get a small plane, 12 seats, but a one that does not need refueling in a trip from D.C to San Francisco.

It ain't the range, it's the 'family, friends, contributors, and hangers on part that needs to be addressed.

In fact, I'm picturing air traffic into SFO being derailed because Nance's hairdresser hasn't finished the job yet & he isn't booked on the taxpayer funded commute back to work.

The specs say c-20 can go the distance, so I wonder what this is about ?
Capt. Herb McConnell, the spokesman for the 89th Airlift wing at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, said the C-20 is sometimes "able to make a coast-to-coast flight at times during the year, but not when there are strong headwinds such as during the winter."
To: bamahead
Queen Nancy and her entourage will travel in style on the taxpayer's dime, but her call for mandatory carbon restrictions will have the rest of us peons walking. She is a number one hypocrite.
