For the first time since October 1999, McCain's favorability rating among American voters has dropped below 50 percent. A Gallup poll taken last month showed him at 48 percent, down 6 points from November, and down from a high of 67 percent in February 2000. Giuliani, in contrast, has held above 60 percent favorability in Gallup polls, most recently at 62 percent. Now that Giuliani has signaled a serious intention to run, stating on Monday "I'm in this to win" as he filed papers with the Federal Election Commission, the comparisons grow in importance.
For Giuliani, winning over enough of the conservative Republican base to secure the nomination has long been seen as a potentially insurmountable task. But now, analysts say, it's possible that Republican-leaning independents could make the difference in the early GOP primaries.

Despite Giuliani's slow start, he now regularly beats McCain in head-to-head matchups. Gallup in early January had Giuliani beating McCain 50 to 42 among Republican primary voters.

The candidate is too 'liberal,' so they place their de facto vote for a Stalinist. Brilliant.
The political direction of our government lags behind, but reflects the political direction of the electorate. If the conservative cause grows, it will be reflected in political wins. If it is in decline, it will face losses.
It does the conservative cause no good to become petulant and self-destructive.
Personally, I will back whichever candidate gets the nomination. I understand that it is crucial to keep the clintons out of the White House. But some who find the Republican candidate too 'liberal' will be placing their de facto vote for a Stalinist. And the payoff: a Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court instead of an Alito, Roberts or Scalia. Good going.
I find it hard to believe that those people aren't able to discern the difference between Giuliani and clinton. Frankly, if true, it is frightening.
I am advocating for Giuliani not because of his ideology. I am advocating for him because I believe he can win, and because I believe he possesses the qualities that this country desperately needs in these perilous times.

An excellent, logical post.
Excellent post and to the point!
I hate to complain, but posting that many pics at once really is not kind to those of us with dialup.
Here, here. What's gonna work? TEAMWORK.
"Conservatives will not vote for Giuliani, McCain or Romney."
I wonder then, why the national and state polls at this time have them leading every time?
Surely they are getting "conservatives" in those polls.
Face the fact that FR sentiment is widely different than the nation in total.
ROFLOL!!
Oh boy...
"a law that would make it illegal to perform a specific abortion procedure conducted in the last six months of pregnancy known as 'partial birth abortion,' except in cases necessary to save the life of the mother."
This is exactly Rudy Giuliani's position.
Moreover, he will appoint justices who are strict constructionists, in the mold of Alito, Roberts and Scalia. Isn't that the bottom line to stop these horrendous procedures and to protect life and liberty?
Yet some here are arguing, threatening, that if the candidate is too 'liberal,' they will place their de facto vote for a Stalinist. Does this make any sense?

But some who find the Republican candidate too 'liberal' will be placing their de facto vote for a Stalinist (and a rapist, and someone who wants to crush the Religious Right and who was the proximate cause of 9/11).
And the payoff: a Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court instead of an Alito, Roberts or Scalia, marginalization, if not worse, of their religious beliefs.... And G-d knows what depth of failure in the War on Terror. Good going.

The other night, I heard a man who is not perfect, but a man of rare intelligence, humility, warmth, competence, strength and leadership.
We will be fortunate, indeed, and our babies, born and unborn, living and not yet imagined, will be infinitely safer, if he is our next president.
I know, but I wish he was. There is also still time if he were to decide to run, though I don't expect he will. :(

I share your sentiments and will work as hard as possible to see Rudy become our next President. I am a Conservative and have been my whole adult life but my belief is that social issues belong in my family, my church, my community, and only on rare occasions at state level. Let the voters in my State decide on social issues not the federal government.
