I don't know about anyone else, but I am still waiting for Michael Schiavo to make a correction on his blog about what "actually" took place in Colorado when he went there (to the debate) to supposedly ask Congresswoman Musgrave one question and she and her staff supposedly tried to have him removed. He called it, "My unreal night in Colorado - with radio link" (Thu Oct 26, 2006 at 08:05:14 PM PST). I'll say (from what I read) that it was his "unreal night".

As I said before in "Standing up and Admitting a Mistake: Not Schiavo's Style?",  if four uniformed officers were around my seat, I would have some idea of what was going on. I certainly wouldn't be sitting in "duh mode" to only be told later of what took place right there around me, as Michael suggests he was. If Michael's account is realistic -- his response and reaction is not. Nor is his response appropriate now that he has "learned" what he was "allegedly told" is not what took place. One would think if he can't get the words out that he was mistaken, he could at least have removed the inaccurate entry from his blog.

He has done neither.

I'm also still waiting to read about, "Also, maybe tomorrow I'll post about my election-eve rally with Bill Clinton in Florida." (A real election impact by Michael Schiavo, Thu Nov 09, 2006 at 10:40:34 AM PST).  Indeed, I would love to read that story by Michael, since I read it was not possible. Not if he was implying it was the Bill Clinton that is the former President of the United States. Will be interesting to see what he says about that if he ever does.

If Michael couldn't get it straight what happened at the Musgrave debate or even if he spent election-eve with former President Bill Clinton -- do you suppose he might have gotten Terri Schiavo's wishes mixed-up as well? (He does claim to have a bad memory from what I read.) Makes one wonder. At least makes me wonder. Whatever...

I'm still waiting for the corrections if not the explanations!

I see it a bit differently, see Cho as robotically performing either as brainwashed in Montgomery Clift style in “Manchurian Candidate” or in something more akin to demonic possession, as if he turned his soul over to the devil some time ago. Perhaps he opened his mind wide to let true evil trickle in, maybe with computer games. I don’t see authentic rage even when he tries to portray it, more of an obedience to an evil force. In his videos, he looks like an actor from Central Casting...

His responses sound inappropriate, to him, maybe not to a guiding force. It is as if he were a sleeper remaining invisible and unapproachable until the time for his role unfolded. Maybe he was being prepared by real terrorists from over a long time as a probe. Maybe he was being prepared by his father of lies.

What can be done to help keep Emilio alive?

When asked what Americans could do to help the Gonzales family, Vitadamo said, "If they know of a doctor and facility, that's what they desperately need now as they are looking to the grace of God." She would like to see "people calling hospitals across the country - even their personal physicians - there's got to be one out there."

Addressing the legal battle, Vitadamo said "Texas Right to Life has been working hard with the Futile Care Law; however, I'm not sure if anything will happen within one week."

Vitadamo said that possible changes to the Texas law could help by "extending the 10-day window or eliminating it altogether to allow families endless time for transfers."

Vitadamo told CBN News that so far, no protests have been waged against the Brackenridge Children's Hospital's "ethics" committee. She noted that "It is good to stay on good terms with the hospital in order to facilitate a transfer," suggesting that there should be no hostilities.

The battle has just begun

Who is winning the war concerning a patient's right to live?

According to Vitadamo, "Patient advocates are not winning the war. We need to continue the fight across the country, as we are not close to winning yet."

However, Vitadamo did say that there has been some progress since her sister's death two years ago.

"People are now speaking out more and can say they disagree," commented Vitadamo. "Families are more aware of the fact that doctors don't always know what's going on, and they can stand up more. In the past, people were more passive, but now they're more active."

One obstacle put in the way of patients' right to life came several years ago.

"Feeding tubes used to be called 'basic care,' but now, most states consider them artificial life support, making it more difficult for families to continue treatment," said Vitadamo, who believes that the fragility of one's life should not determine the quality or worth of one's life.

She told CBN News that Catarina and Terri Schiavo's parents are good examples to follow when fighting the system to save the lives of loved ones.

Haleigh Poutre update...

BOSTON -- Hampden County prosecutors asked a state appeals court judge to allow the release of sealed juvenile court records concerning a man charged with assaulting Haleigh Poutre.

Haleigh's stepfather -- 33-year-old Jason Strickland -- is scheduled for trial in June in connection with a beating that caused brain damage to the girl.

Hampden Juvenile Court Judge James Collins has agreed to release transcripts and other records from a juvenile court case to prosecutors in Strickland's criminal case.

May I remind you what else was happening on the very day in 2003 when Congress passed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban. In Florida, the state Legislature passed a law that gave politicians the power to override Terri Schiavo's wishes and have her feeding tube reinserted.

Up and down the East Coast, under two Bush administrations — George and Jeb — politicians were playing doctor and God.

May I also remind you of the day President Bush signed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban into law. The photo op had him surrounded by an all-male chorus line of legislators. These men were proudly governing something they never had: a womb.

The moment this procedure was dubbed "partial-birth abortion," pro-lifers won the PR war. They took women out of the picture, literally. The line drawings that illustrated congressional hearings often showed a headless woman bearing a perfect, healthy baby of six months' or more gestation.

It was the discomforting optimism that feels a bit illicit because of its unintentional reliance on another's pain. But as a mother who adopted seven children, five with special needs, Dawn welcomes hope from any source - a smile from her autistic children, mild backtalk (a "fighting spirit") from her brain-damaged daughter "Mo-Mo," or, in the response to Terri Schiavo and Martin Anderson, a sign of concern from someone who can make a difference.

The religious conservatives do not value actual human life; they are consistent followers of the Christian ideal that human life is properly lived in sacrifice to a supernatural being, and that suffering is proof of virtue. The worship of suffering is fundamental to Christianity, a religion whose central figure is glorified for dying a horrific death for the sins of mankind. Several years ago, a prominent religious conservative said of the Schiavo case, "Terry Schiavo . . . is suffering in obedience to God's will." He added: "Isn't suffering in pursuit of God's will the exact center of religious life?"

This is the culture of death--of living death.

Human life is sacred--not because of supernatural declaration, but because of the unique nature and glorious potential of the individual, rational human life: to think, to create, to love, to experience pleasure, to achieve happiness here on earth. A genuine culture of life would leave individuals free to pursue their own happiness--free from coercive injunctions to sacrifice themselves to religious dogma. It was perhaps appropriate that those paragons of the leftist media establishment in Canada, the Toronto Star newspaper and the CBC, would christen as a “secular saint” a woman who stood solidly for such “sacraments” of the left as abortion and homosexuality. However, for those aware of those aspects of June Callwood’s history and her identification as one of the who’s who of Canada’s left, it was striking that The Star, the National Post and others conspicuously omitted mentioning her abortion and gay rights activism in their numerous articles on Callwood's passing.

Although Callwood was praised for a number of truly good things she did, Canadians of conscience might be forgiven for asking how her concerns for the poor, sick and downtrodden squared with her support for the slaughter of unborn living children. It is also difficult to justify her adamant support for the gay lifestyle that has led to many tragic deaths and spawned a movement that is greatly undermining natural married and family life.
