Haleigh Poutre update...

BOSTON -- Hampden County prosecutors asked a state appeals court judge to allow the release of sealed juvenile court records concerning a man charged with assaulting Haleigh Poutre.

Haleigh's stepfather -- 33-year-old Jason Strickland -- is scheduled for trial in June in connection with a beating that caused brain damage to the girl.

Hampden Juvenile Court Judge James Collins has agreed to release transcripts and other records from a juvenile court case to prosecutors in Strickland's criminal case.

Ellen Goodman... Goodman, oxymoron is thy name. I can only wonder if Ellen would have the moxie to watch either event up close, to fully grasp the effect and horror erupting from such thinking. One can dress up horrors with flowery words like choice and euphoria, but can that same person watch a living baby being executed in such manner, or Terri...??? Maybe.

.....................

May I remind you what else was happening on the very day in 2003 when Congress passed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban. In Florida, the state Legislature passed a law that gave politicians the power to override Terri Schiavo's wishes and have her feeding tube reinserted.

Up and down the East Coast, under two Bush administrations — George and Jeb — politicians were playing doctor and God.

May I also remind you of the day President Bush signed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban into law. The photo op had him surrounded by an all-male chorus line of legislators. These men were proudly governing something they never had: a womb.

The moment this procedure was dubbed "partial-birth abortion," pro-lifers won the PR war. They took women out of the picture, literally. The line drawings that illustrated congressional hearings often showed a headless woman bearing a perfect, healthy baby of six months' or more gestation.

My opinion Ellen Goodman : Court's chilling ruling deals women a blow

I am at a loss to know why juvenile court records are sealed from a prosecutor. Since when is it not public business when a child is beaten into a coma? It was a crime. If the evidence in the records incriminates Jason Strickland, that’s all the more reason to turn them over to the prosecutor.
