Anti-war protesters spray paint Capitol building

Anti-war protesters were allowed to spray paint on part of thewest front steps of the United States Capitol building after police wereordered to break their security line by their leadership, two sources toldThe Hill.

According to the sources, police officers were livid when theywere told to fall back by U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Phillip Morse andDeputy Chief Daniel Nichols. "They were the commanders on the scene," one source said,who requested anonymity. "It was disgusting."

After police ceded the stairs, located on the lower west frontof the Capitol, the building was locked down, the source added.

A second source who witnessed the incident said that the policehad the crowd stopped at Third Street, but were told to bring the policeline in front of the Capitol.

Approximately 300 protesters were allowed to take the steps andbegan to spray paint "anarchist symbols" and phrase such as "Ourcapitol building" and "you can’t stop us" around the area, thesource said.

Morse responded to these claims in an e-mail Sunday afternoon,explaining that the protesters were seeking confrontation with the police.

"While there were minor instances of spray painting ofpavement by a splinter group of Anarchists who were seeking a confrontationwith the police, their attempts to breach into secure areas and rush thedoors of the Capitol were thwarted," Morse said. "The graffiti waseasily removed by the dedicated [Architect of the Capitol] staff, some of whom responded on their day off to quickly clean the area."

He added, "It is the USCP's duty and responsibility to protectthe Capitol complex, staff and public while allowing the public to exercisetheir First Amendment rights … at the end of the day, both occurredwithout injury to protestors or officers."

Certainly this was a skirmish between Left and Right, but we are not at WAR with our FELLOW AMERICANS.

A skirmish, Sir? And I suppose Hiroshima to be, in your estimation, what; a fusillade, perhaps?

We ARE AT WAR with the roots of liberalism; roots that trace back 300 years to the repudiation of the fallen nature of man and the rise of moral relativism; a pervasive evil that strips society of all principle, hence stripping it of all ability to live morally, hence stripping it of all ability to live by the spirit rather than the letter, hence stripping it of all ability to truly live free.

Relativism is a pernicious lie the ultimate end-game of which is the end of our species and the damnation of our souls, and no group so well embodies that as the Western Left.

So, then, while we are NOT at physical war with our fellow Americans, we are inextricably engaged in a raging moral blitzkrieg the outcome of which will determine nothing less than the survival or destruction of our Republic; the success or failure of "The American Experiment". There is no way that we can conscionably disengage from this conflict; even if we could escape it's reach. Our only choices are to fight or be overrun. And how do we fight? We have only one truly effective avenue, though it is neither original nor popular, and it is bound up in these three vital pursuits:

REPENT. FAST. PRAY.

In point of fact, IF civilization can be saved (and that's a huge qualifying "if", at this juncture in history), it will take an army of Saints to do it. We have no other viable recourse. If you're NOT one, become one; if you ARE one, get busy.

Interesting that the USCP didn't respond. I'd figure that they were obligated to, and would want to.

Perhaps someone who 1)agreed with the protestors, and 2)had the authority to tell the police to back, down did just.

Applaud C. S. Lewis, as well, though I didn't quote him exactly, and Dr. Peter Kreeft. It was he who wrote that relativism "will certainy end our species and damn our souls." Also, I have been reading, just today, an 11-page transcription of a lecture by Dr. Peter Kreeft in which he delivers a resounding refutation of relativism. His conclusion reinforces what I have always thought, but I owe him credit for the progression from freedom, to living spiritually (only spirit is truly free, matter is controlled), from living spiritually to living morally, and from living morally to living by moral principles. Thus it is that, relativism, because it debases those moral principles, is an elemental threat to all human freedom. So, while the construction and progression of thought is my own, key portions of the structure are me "standing on the shoulders of giants", if I may echo Sir Isaac Newton.

Following the Vietnam War, General Giap admitted tat the north was ready to throw in the towel and give up fighting; until the antiwar movement gave them hope and kept them in the war. The antiwar movement is directly responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of American Soldiers, the maiming and suffering of others, and the deaths and torture of millions of Southeast Asian's.

These people to this day pat themselves on the back for stopping the war. Now they are trying to do the same thing again. Defeat America, humble America, hurt America. So...I think they are definitely at war with America. And thus they are at war with me.

AC I think you are right. I don't know where or when the flash point will occur but it will occur. Sad really.

I'd then like to launch a campaign to spray paint their cars, homes and businesses and any other "Private" property the way they spray painted mine and every other taxpaying American's property; or at the very least I'd like to break their noses.
