Anti-war protesters were allowed to spray paint on part of thewest front steps of the United States Capitol building after police wereordered to break their security line by their leadership, two sources toldThe Hill.
According to the sources, police officers were livid when theywere told to fall back by U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Phillip Morse andDeputy Chief Daniel Nichols. "They were the commanders on the scene," one source said, who requested anonymity. "It was disgusting."
After police ceded the stairs, located on the lower west frontof the Capitol, the building was locked down, the source added.
A second source who witnessed the incident said that the policehad the crowd stopped at Third Street, but were told to bring the policeline in front of the Capitol.
Approximately 300 protesters were allowed to take the steps andbegan to spray paint "anarchist symbols" and phrase such as "Ourcapitol building" and "you cant stop us" around the area, thesource said.
Morse responded to these claims in an e-mail Sunday afternoon, explaining that the protesters were seeking confrontation with the police.
"While there were minor instances of spray painting ofpavement by a splinter group of Anarchists who were seeking a confrontationwith the police, their attempts to breach into secure areas and rush thedoors of the Capitol were thwarted," Morse said. "The graffiti waseasily removed by the dedicated [Architect of the Capitol] staff, some of whom responded on their day off to quickly clean the area."
He added, "It is the USCP's duty and responsibility to protectthe Capitol complex, staff and public while allowing the public to exercisetheir First Amendment rights
at the end of the day, both occurredwithout injury to protestors or officers."

I believe the only way we, and not the protestors could get attention would be if hundreds of thousands from our side marched on the Capital.
The media is pre-disposed to cover the lefties, because most (of the media) agree with these people and not. Ergo we would have to be in overwhelming numbers to get even a sliver of attention brought to any of the things concerning us these days (and, perhaps, wake up some left-leaners in the process).

Absolutely astounding, even for a day and age in which idiocy runs rampant. Whoever made this decision should immediately be issued a copy of the Want Ads and then shown the door.
Those who refuse to support and defend a state have no claim to protection by that state.
Killing an anarchist or a pacifist should not be defined as "murder" in a legalistic sense.
The offense against the state, if any, should be "Using deadly weapons inside city limits," or "Creating a traffic hazard," or "Endangering bystanders," or other misdemeanor.
LAZARUS LONG
So now vandalism and destruction of public property is defined as a First Amendment "right?"
My instant reaction was similar. But then after hearing and seeing some of the goings-on... and reflecting on how truly comical they all are... I said a little prayer thanking the Lord for if we must have enemies-- thanks for enemies such as these.
They're a cartoon of themselves. A parody of protest, inasmuch as they're protesting things that exist only in their limited imaginations.
These people are not a problem for us, nor a problem for Bush. They're a problem for the ~democrats~ that fancy themselves fit for service as Commander in Chief.
FRiends:
A SPADE IS A SPADE. Kristinn called a spade a spade and got both some 'megadittos' and some 'friendly fire' to his post 51. (Hit View Replies and you'll see what I mean.)
Kristinn works his HEART out leading the D.C. chapter faithful to help defend the most politically-targeted real estate in the WORLD. He expresses understandable frustration at easy-chair activism hypocrisy--a lack of people turning out for events--and then gets attacked as being some kind of elitist. Unbelievable! FREEDOM ISN'T FREE! FRIENDLY FIRE...ISN'T!
If we had more impassioned Patriots like Kristinn (God, BLESS AND PROTECT HIM and the D.C. Chapter) we wouldn't HAVE so much of this to deal with.
Shame on those people taking cheap shots at one of our best. A couple of people on this thread owe Kristinn a public apology.
WE ALL CAN--AND MUST--DO MORE!
BUMP!
Bravo! Had I not slept on MY initial response to your remarks, I'd have been writing a similar letter to that, to you! ;^) The tongue, how small--yet as noted in the Book of James, as potentially dangerous as fire.
It takes courage to apologize and I commend you.
Eagles Up!
Wow, these idiots are soo freakin stupid, don't they realize they live in the most free nation ever, and spray painting our capitol is just one example. Try and spray paint on a government buidling in any other country in this world and I bet you will never see the light of day again.
But yet the idiots who did this to our government are also the idiots saying that our government is the most controlling facist in the world...Yeah I am sure real Dictators like Saddam or Hitler would have let people deface their government buildings! They don't even know what they are protesting against, they are protesting the very thing that gives them the right to protest. Isn't that where the word Hippie comes from anyway....they are Hippocrits.
If you notice the typoes that were there: they fall inot categories.
1. limo liberals - fonda, benjamin, Jackson, and the like
2. brainwashed college students
3. retired hippies
4. anarchists of all ages funded by Soros and other left wing orgs
5. assorted others looking for a good time.
any other categories?
theres gonna be a backlash
The job of any worker is to please his/her boss. The Chief is thinking to himself, "hmmmm, Pelosi is in charge now, a little paint is not going to cost me my job as fast as a riot with 'peace' protesters."
Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat
With a baseball bat
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Gabba gabba hey!
I was working and taking care of my daughter.
I hope that's ok?
Not everyone can live in the DC area.
This p*sses me off. If it's Vienam and "Kent State" they want, give it to them. Don't let them deface public property.
I say, the public gets to deface their property. Where do the scum live...
He added, "It is the USCP's duty and responsibility to protectthe Capitol complex, staff and public while allowing the public to exercisetheir First Amendment rights
at the end of the day, both occurredwithout injury to protestors or officers."
So if someone wanted to dump a pail of paint on (or spray paint) Lincolns statue at the Lincoln Memorial, the First Amendment would allow them to do it? This is nuts.
that's some pretty neat "community policing" in action.
I thought our police where better than France for that reason, they dont back down from crowds, oh well.
