I have no clue about Romney, but I have worked with and known a number of Mormons and have liked and admired every one of them.
My letter to Gordon Smith:
What if the war in Iraq is about oil? What if the insurgency is nothing more than an attempt to keep the price of oil up? With a stable and secure Iraq the World Production of Oil is up an additional 2.7 million barrels a day and that keeps the price down for Countries such as Iran and Russia who are cash strapped. If they can keep that Oil off the World Market than these struggling gummits can live to fight another day.
When we entered the Iraqi war Al Queda leaders said America will never survive the Arab method of winning by Death by a Thousand Cuts. What they meant was that if they continued to cut on the Giant that the Giant would finally give up and that is apparently what has happened to everyone but the President. The Cut&RunocRats were dead at the first cut while Republicans like our own Gordon Smith took 3000.
When the Congress signed up for this war which has been a roaring success on any measure, they signed up expecting 10,000 deaths in the first 6 months. We have lost 3000 in 4 years and our weak kneed Republicans like Gordon Smith has decided to run and hide. He offers no solution other than bringing our troops home and let the Civil War decide the next Dictator. Never mind that this is the first democracy ever attempted in the ME, he doesn’t have the stomach to withstand those 1000 cuts.
With his co-sponsoring the bill against the President he has attempted to become another Wayne Morse who was the biggest disgrace the State or Oregon has ever elected. He will be popular in this liberal state and may get re-elected for going against the President. The question is, what will his excuse be for the mass murders that are guaranteed to occur after we leave before the gummit has a chance to stand on its own. Is that the price he is willing to pay for his re-election?
Is the Iraqi gummit corrupt? Yes and what Turd World gummit isn’t, but they have managed to produce more oil than any time in the past 6 years and their economy is growing faster than any other in the ME. To say that is a miracle considering the violence in Baghdad, only speaks volumes to the hunger and thirst these people have for freedom. Too bad our elected officials don’t share that thirst. Too bad there are too many Gordon Smiths willing to turn their backs on these desperate souls and deny them the cool oasis of Freedom.
So what if Iran, Russia and Saudi Arabia are behind arming and training these terrorists who are continuing the chaos. What if they are only trying to stop the flow of Oil to keep those Petro-Billions coming to prop up their failing gummits. What if the Gordon Smiths of the world are just willing dupes to prop up Iran and Saudi dictators with high priced Oil? What will history say about those that do not have the will strength to withstand those 1000 cuts? He will be the darling of the media for a short time, as was President Nixon but those words ring hollow to the Killing Fields that were a direct result of us turning our backs on the South Vietnamese before they could defend themselves.
How easy is it to be a Pacifist yet how hard is it to make a difference to the oppressed. When Pontius Pilot washed his hands he only condemned one man, Gordon Smith is condemning millions.
