One thing I love about the Sunday Morning thread is that people are nearly always courteous to other posters, even while disagreeing.

I think you must have misunderstood. Jimmah Carter was the worst president ever, no competition in my opinion and most everyone I know. Ford was appointed but the Rats tried to put the kibosh on that also by not Voting to approve the Appointment. Elizabeth Holtzman I believe was the instigator.

I think that he got a fourth star to go with his new job, and the Senate has to approve that raise, not the appointment, per se.
The vote (81-0) was to confirm his promotion to General. The Senate does confirm certain military appointments such as Chief of Staff etc.. The Senate vote on Petraeus, however, was to confirm his nomination "to General."

Now there would be my Candidate, but he is not running. He is well known and well liked, not any experience running a State or Big Company or similar things, but he Did win State wide in Pennsylvania. We have to step up the coming out of these candidates. It is so frustrating, even the ones you thought were good are back biting rinos now like Danforth. Yuk!

McCain, I could not take him.He has sold us down the river one too many times and is a complete ego maniac.
Based on what I see today, this would be the bitterest pill in the box. However, I know that I would support any Pub over any Rat now on the scene.

I for one am still waiting to hear directly from Rudy what he stands for on many issues.
If there is any give in the Conservative position, it is probably here. Mitt will have to go some to attain Rudy's stature across the political spectrum; this makes Rudy very powerful. It is certainly crucial for Giuliani to address gun control, abortion etc. in ways that might lessen concern over SCOTUS appointments, for example. I will be waiting, as well.

I saw about a half hour of Rudy on C-span tonight..and I was quite impressed.
The only part he talked about was the foreign policy...and he hasn't really become an official candidate though, so, I surely won't get too excited.

The next two years will require a lot of Vitamins. LOL!
Is there a vitamin for enhanced patience? We are all going to need lots of patience with each other to avoid a very nasty breakup in the midst of picking our way through this political jungle. The upside is that the discussion has started; and the posts here, once again, prove that people are thinking.

He can be very useful especially if the Conservatives are paying attention to him, and get out of their funk and start getting involved. He can Be very articulate and slap the Rats around, and even make them look even more anti- Military than they already do. You can be excited about a candidate, and back them, send money or whatever. You just have to remember how Conservatives are portrayed by the Rats and the DBM, and try not to think about just one Candidate. I was late to the Allen as the favorite Camp, and still ended up very disappointed because he was a potentionally great candidate that The Washington Compost ruined with a running diatribe every day about him. He was not ready for prime time anyway, but he was looking really good, and that is why the Media had to destroy him.

I just love Haley Barbour, all Chunky and Cocky. He is the kind of Guy that you could get to help you fix your roof, or lean on your Lawyer, and in between shake hands with constituents, do a Television Interview ,and Pet his Coon Dog and play with his grandkids.

Being a Good Commander in Chief is not the same as being responsible for all the Rest of the Federal employees, and the entire Country. I have no doubt that Hunter would be fine in that Position, but that is not all there is to it. Military People can take orders and have the best interest of the Country at Heart, I have my Doubts about the Civilians in Particular the Leakers in the State Dept, etc. They have been there under Civil Service, it makes herding cats seem easy.
