NBC's Anti-Rudy Push Poll
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/27/2007 9:01:32 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Definition: Push Poll: "A push poll is a political campaign technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll. Push polls are generally viewed as a form of negative campaigning. The term is also sometimes used incorrectly to refer to legitimate polls which test political messages, some of which may be negative. Push polling has been condemned by the American Association of Political Consultants."
Melissa Russo, political reporter for NBC's NYC affiliate WNBC, recently followed Rudy Giuliani up to New Hampshire. In her report on this morning's "Today," Russo stressed that at a GOP campaign stop, Giuliani failed to inform the Granite State Republicans that "he's far from a social conservative."

View video here.

So Russo decided to take it upon herself to inform them. Here's Russo interviewing a nice Republican lady:

Russo: "Did you know he was pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro gay rights?"

Nice Republican lady: "No-o-o-o."

Russo: "Would that affect your support for him?"

Nice Republican lady: "Ye-s-s."

Have a look again at that definition of push polling. Sound to you like Russo was engaging in it?

I am hoping so! Hunter can really be great given some more exposure. More exposure will only hurt Rudy's polling when his liberal leaning get more time.

GLGB, please note the apology from doc in the post I reply to.

Personal Insults was what his post was all about. Don't you have better things to attack than Rudy losing hair? How many of you guys .. how many Freepers are losing hair? Let's attack them.

So stick your rag on personal insults elsewhere.

Here's the issue I am concerned about.

We don't need any more PC leadership. We need a good communicator, someone with experience re: accomplishment, and someone that understands we are at war and knows who the enemy is.

Thanks, Doc. I'm all for vigorous debate about who our best candidate might be, but hate to see FR get torn apart over this. Shades of the Harriet Miers debate - during which I was a vociferous Miers opponent here, by the way.

Hunter, Pence, Huckabee, or most any candidate that has a long, solid, conservative record (not last minute conversion chamelions).

This can NOT include most demonRATS (although, I did ONCE vote for a CONSERVATIVE democrat - Zell Miller for GA Governor), and most definitely can NOT include ANY RINOs.

Wow, you just described Duncan Hunter!

If Hunter can pull it off, he has my vote. But same goes for Rudy.

That was before 9-11 and you know it. He is for closed borders. But in your small world whatever someone says years ago is what they believe today. People evolve -- I know I have and would hope others have as well. My priorities in politics today are not the same as they were before 9-11. I would hope that is the same for everyone but obviously from some of the comments on here it is not.

Giuliani continued his "open borders" sanctuary city policies all the way until he left office in 2002. What he SAYS now matters little in determining how he will actually govern if elected. As mayor of NYC he had an "open borders" policy. That's what he DID, which far outweights what he has SAID.

9-11 changed a lot of us and probably no one more at a political level then Rudy himself. You have no clue as to how many people in this Country respect Rudy and the cheap shots you all keep giving him is not doing your candidate whoever that is any service because it only shows how mean spirited you all are when you don't get your way.

The only reason that people support and respect a liberal like Giuliani is because they don't know the truth about him. And I will do what I can to get that truth out in hopes that he is NOT the Republican nominee in 2008. No conservative should hope that a LIBERAL is selected to represent the Republican Party in the 2008 election. Every conservative should be working to elect a conservative. Your efforts on the part of liberal Rudy are counter to the goals of conservatives, the Republican Party Platform, and the goals of this forum.

The Second amendment could never be safer with him (RINO-rudy) in office.

Now, THAT, is LAUGHABLE.

This just proves that you Rudy-Rooters will tell ANY lie to support him. Please, name any other candidate, Democrat or Republican, running right now who has confiscated more firearms than Rudy Giuliani. I'll wait.

If any of those candidates get into contention for the nomination, I'd certainly give them serious consideration. Of course I'll also be keeping one eye on the general election polls. If they stand a good chance of winning the general, fine. If Rudy is the only person standing between us and Hillary, Obama or Edwards, that would be another thing.

We are both discussing a person we consider qualifed, it is your side who keeps telling us to leave. Not you specifically but others.

I would be happy to leave your Hunter posts to hunter supporters, I am not interested on here if I convince anyone about my reasons for Rudy because it is a lost cause already. When someone posts a Rudy article I am not even finished reading it before the dress picture shows up, that is not debating.

Let the debate, civil if possible, crude if it must be continue, LOL!

Show me where Rudy is against the Second amendment. If you base that claim on what he did to make NY City's streets safer,

The irony in this statement is AMAZING! You admit right in there he took legal gun owners rights away!

The Second amendment could never be safer with him in office.

It would be safer with Hunter in office!
