NBC's Anti-Rudy Push Poll
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/27/2007 9:01:32 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Definition: Push Poll: "A push poll is a political campaign technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll. Push polls are generally viewed as a form of negative campaigning. The term is also sometimes used incorrectly to refer to legitimate polls which test political messages, some of which may be negative. Push polling has been condemned by the American Association of Political Consultants."
Melissa Russo, political reporter for NBC's NYC affiliate WNBC, recently followed Rudy Giuliani up to New Hampshire. In her report on this morning's "Today," Russo stressed that at a GOP campaign stop, Giuliani failed to inform the Granite State Republicans that "he's far from a social conservative."

View video here.

So Russo decided to take it upon herself to inform them. Here's Russo interviewing a nice Republican lady:

Russo: "Did you know he was pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro gay rights?"

Nice Republican lady: "No-o-o-o."

Russo: "Would that affect your support for him?"

Nice Republican lady: "Ye-s-s."

Have a look again at that definition of push polling. Sound to you like Russo was engaging in it?

While you and i may both strongly disagree with the thrust of this article, glgb is certainly no liberal and probably one of my top 10 favorite posters on FR.

That's childish. I know you are a better debater than to resort to such childish practices, but because there is a strong conservative and viable candidate who is far better than rudy, you just can't get past the fart-joke style of posting, huh?

Attacking conservatives is the new, hip thing to do on Free Republica, don't ya know... The more conservative the candidate, the more childish crap the liberals here throw at him.

Thanks for that info! That is great news!

Was at precinct meetings on Tuesday night in my County and was shocked at the number of people I talked with that supported Rudy because he would stand up to the terrorist and for our military.

I think you are right when Republicans hear Rudy speak, they like him. They are also smart enough to know that social issues have become court issues and all he has to do is appoint strict constitutionalist judges to take care of them. That is exactly what he has said he will do. Big supporter of Scalia, Roberts, and Alito. That speaks volumes. Just wait one of the bashers will bring up what he said about Gingsberg from years ago.

The bashers should be spending their time out getting candidates to run for House and Senate to evict the RATs because that is where the laws are written. But they seem to prefer the national stage for President to throw their temper tantrums.

We need MORE of this to lift the veil of ignorance that is currently protecting the REAL RINO-rudy from the wrath and disdain of all conservative Republicans.

Well, at least I got your attention.....

Yep, the way a 6 year old kid runnning up and down the aisle of a plane does. Not all attention is good.

When you support or defend liberals on a conservative forum, you will get exactly what you deserve.

No, it only means that I will get what you THINK I deserve.

The debate remains open.

LOL! I know -- I have taken to ignoring their comments because I know who I am and not afraid of to support someone I may not agree with 100% of the time for President. I support the Republican candidate that can win! I thought that was what politics is all about -- winning! But then I am a football fan as well and losing isn't an option there either.

Have been called a lot of things on here as have others and their words mean nothing as they are so irrational when someone dares express an opinion that is counter to theirs. Freedom of speech only works one way with these folks -- if you don't agree 100% you are not a conservative. They are not my judge and jury on whether I am a conservative. I know I am a conservative that puts national security first and I don't think that I am alone in that one.
