My aunt and uncle sent this out to our family at 6:30 AM today. Carrie is my young cousin, a very gifted artist, and the second eldest among her siblings. She and her family are in Michigan.
Prayer reqeust from my aunt and uncle (Carrie is their granddaughter).
This morning on her way to work Carrie's car slid on the highway and into a tree. She has very bad injuries, especially to her head. Her brain is swelling and she is now in surgery. They plan to open her skull to allow for the swelling, and she is not responding.They don't give her parents a lot of hope. We are telling everyone so you can join us in praying for our dear Caroline. They called her parents about 7:45 this morning and they're at the hospital now.

Thank you so much for the update about Carrie. I have continued to keep her in my prayers and have wondered about her progress.
I pray that the our Heavenly Father will continue to bless Carrie and guide the surgeon’s hand as healing takes place.

Carrie had her surgery this morning [to replace the part of her skull the doctors removed on January 25 to allow room for her brain to swell] and all went well. D called a little while ago and they had talked with Dr. P. She is coming out of the anesthetic now and they were going to see her soon. He will call again when they move her up to Intensive Care. They expect to keep her at the hospital tonight.
L & L G, friends, were at the hospital this morning with D and M. Her dad went with Carrie to the hospital at 5 something this morning. Her mom waited until we got here and got the kids off to school before she left.
Carrie had such a good day yesterday. A favorite nurse, D, was here taking good care of her. And a friend of Carrie's boyfriend's mother came to give Carrie some massage treatment. She was here about 1 1/2 hours and it was so good for Carrie. The friend said she loved doing it for Carrie and she would come again. They are pleased to hear that. M was trying to learn how to do what the massage lady did so she could repeat it.
Some other friends came Sunday night and they were so encouraging to all. LG was here to listen on Sunday night too. LG brought supper last night--in case we didn't [arrive from our home] as planned. Aren't friends wonderful!!!
D called from the hospital. Dr. P wants to see Carrie again in 10 days. Everything is coming along fine with Carrie. She has been moved to the ICU room. They haven't been able to see her yet, but all reports are good.

Gretchen, thanks so much for that update! Sounds like good news, and I sure hope and pray that this is the start of Carrie’s real recovery.
