From Aladdin to Lost Ark, Muslims get angry at 'bad guy' film images
Crude and exaggerated stereotypes are fuelling Islamophobia, says study

Popular films ranging from Hollywood blockbusters to children's cartoons are depicting "crude and exaggerated" stereotypes of Muslims and perpetuating Islamophobia, according to a study published today. A report by the Islamic Human Rights Commission argues that films as diverse as The Siege, a portrayal of a terrorist attack on New York starring Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis, the Disney film Aladdin and the British comedy East is East have helped demonise Muslims as violent, dangerous and threatening, and reinforce prejudices.
While The Siege is attacked for inter-cutting Islamic ritual and terrorist violence, potentially linking the two in the minds of audiences, Aladdin faces criticism for depicting Arabs as "ruthless caricatures" with "exaggerated and ridiculous accents".

Does that include the beheading films? Although, I am sure white guys behead Daniel Pearl in the Angelina Jolie film.
I saw this report on TV back on 9-11-01.....they were bad guys there too.
I wonder if there is something to their claim?
As they say in the Russian Marines tuffsky Shitsky. From the book (and movie) Battle Cry
First of all, "phobia" means "an inordinate FEAR of ..." Hostility to muslims is not FEAR of muslims; it's hatred.
Secondly, popular films are not perpetuating hatred of muslims. Hijacking jetliners and flying them into buildings is. Beheading people on tape is. Blowing up busloads of blind orphan children is. Beating wives and screwing camels is. Bombing planes, trains, and automobiles is. Rejoicing at the deaths of innocents is. Hypocrisy and incessant demands for jihad are.
In short, the only thing perpetuating a hatred of islam is islam.
"Lost Ark"? Uh...the bad guys in that one were violent, hate-filled fascists who were trying to take over the world. OTOH, if the shoe fits...
who cares what a muslim bad guy thinks when their actions are simply a video of what was said and seen.
In a related story, vultures are upset at their portrayal as opportunistic carrion eaters.
Hmmmm...they don't like being "stereotyped", or being called what they are?
Hey, remember in Aladdin when the Muslims behead the Christian? Oh wait.... that was in real life.
Hang on there Achmed, the world's tiniest violin is just getting tuned up.
Wow, they sure have got their "victim" schtick down pat. Now they're complaining about old movies. I'm complaining that there aren't any new movies depicting Muslim terrorists. At least they'd be somewhat realistic.
Is there anything Muslims aren't mad at? Does the Koran have a commandment that says, "Thou Shalt be perpetually angry?"
Art imitating life. Who'd a thunk it?
Last movie made with Muslim good guys
Oh, my God, just shut up with the whining already.
You mean like the bad Arab that tried to get Porky Pig to open the Foreign Legion fort?
Or Popeye when he went after Abu Hassan (Abu Hassn got it any more).
Or when Popeye went after Sinbad the Sailor and won.
Or Bob and Bing on the road to Morocco.
And way too many Arabesque fantasy movies of the past such as Sabu and the Magic Ring.
If my mention of these have hacked off those of Mohammedan descent rest assured IT WAS INTENTIONAL!
Islamic Human Rights Commission? Isn't that kind of like having a Wet Fire Committee?
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
