Take The Pledge
Hugh Hewitt Townhall Blog ^ | Wednesday, January 24, 2007 | Hugh Hewitt

If you are a blogger who has taken the pledge and linked to the site, please send me a note so I can add your support here.

I interviewed Tony Snow at the top of the program today, and Senator Norm Coleman is scheduled in hour two.

After you have taken the pledge, please call Senator McConnell's office and urge a filibuster of Senator Biden's and Senator Warner's resolutions.

Senator McConnell's office number is (202) 224-2541. The capitol switchboard is 202-225-3121. Senator McConnell's e-mail is here.

Yesterday General Petraeus testified that the Biden/Warner resolutions and those like them encourage the enemy.

What does it mean, "to encourage the enemy?"

I think the Republican leadership is conflicted about confronting him because he may pull another Jumpin' Jeffords.

Maybe. But look at it this way, what is the worse he could do?

We no longer have the majority. So he increases the Rats by one. How painful would that be?

Those considering Guliani as the electable, better alternative to Hillary better look closely at Corker. That is how he got the seat. I expect him to return to his liberal roots now that he is elected as (in my opinion) Guliani will do if he wins.

I agree with you. I think they should clean out any Republican who votes for this resolution. But the Republican Congressional leadership is very unsure of themselves right now. They seem scared stiff, except for McConnell a little bit. At the SOU address, at the very beginning, some of the Republicans seemed to be glaring at Bush as if they would be glad to stab him - especially Warner, Boehner, Blount and McCain. Then after a while, when they saw he was doing well, they lightened up a little.

Giuliani is liberal on social issues but he is not liberal at all in foreign policy or law enforcement. In New York City, the left-wingers hated him. I could never imagine his saying anything like what Corker said.

I don't know when it comes to the floor. I think I heard that they would start debating it tomorrow.

That's really what the Democrats want to do - grandstand. They let the Republicans make fools of themselves and they capitalize on it.

I am speechless with regard to the Republicans in Congress at this point.

Follow the money or the FBI files. It's the only thing which makes any sense to me.

Hagel is the Republican who voted in favor of the resolution. I think the Republican leadership is conflicted about confronting him because he may pull another Jumpin' Jeffords.

I heard Hagel on this resolution. He sounded half deranged! I think he is having VietNam flashbacks or something, because he sure didn't sound stable--shouting, basically, as if someone was trying to do harm to him personally.

I've been wondering what's in the air and water in the Senate and House buildings.

We can't possibly have this many people out of touch with reality without something affecting their minds.

I've heard several accounts that they really believe that this won't impact the troops - it's just a non-binding resolution - tell that to someone who's willing to give their life for the country!

It looks the GOP is trying to purge its conservative base.
