Only the most far-out conspiracy theorists believe in scenarios like Hunt's. But in a new memoir, "American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate & Beyond," due out in April, Hunt, 88, writes: "Having Kennedy liquidated, thus elevating himself to the presidency without having to work for it himself, could have been a very tempting and logical move on Johnson's part.
"LBJ had the money and the connections to manipulate the scenario in Dallas and is on record as having convinced JFK to make the appearance in the first place. He further tried unsuccessfully to engineer the passengers of each vehicle, trying to get his good buddy, Gov. [John] Connolly, to ride with him instead of in JFK's car - where . . . he would have been out of danger."

I've always believed that LBJ was involved. He was the epitome of sleaze, and this country has suffered deeply to this day from his ascendancy to the presidency.
In the beginning of their marriage Lady Bird was the one with money. By '63 LBJ had used his "elected positions" to have made his own money; he had long coat-tails, too, enjoyed by his friends.
I've read she was trying to retrieve a portion of her husband's head from the trunk of the car.
LBJ has access to lots of Oil money. Connelly was his bag man and Senate chief of staff. When LBJ became VP, Connelly left LBJs staff to become Govenor. He won easily.
The author of Blood Money and Power was Barr McClellan [Scott McClellan's father].
Barr quotes a book written by LBJ's Texas mistress [I'm sure there were others in DC]. The mistress believed LBJ was involved. The night before the assassination she was with him in a public place, he went to a meeting, and made comments to her after the meeting. The title of the book was Texas in the Morning. I can't remember her name, but she died about 1999.

Thankyouthankyouverrrymuch.
The 1971 film "Executive Action" hints extensively at this connection. What's interesting is that I always thought the character in the film that ordered the hit was H.L. Hunt.
Father of "the Hunt brothers" who tried to corner the silver market in 1980.
Now, I don't know if those Hunt's are related to E. Howard Hunt.
Remember this one?

Ladybird had money from her family but she and LBJ made big money together. She bought the land on Clear Lake just in time to sell it to NASA. I remember when that happened. I have read Means of Assent and Master of the Senate, biographies of LBJ, and by the way, LBJ DID kill Kennedy. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind. The more you know about LBJ the clearer that becomes to you. Absolutely ruthless and he HAD to be president.
It took 39 posts before someone mentioned the idiocy of these conspiracy theorists. As a proud American and conservative, I refuse to believe the vice president of the USA murdered a sitting president.
Indeed. And on the same day that JFK was originally supposed to have been shot in Chicago:
Can you tell us more about these two attempts on JFKs life just prior to Dallas and their connection to November 22nd?Of course that would have made it very difficult for Lou Conein, the U.S. Army's and intelligence community's point of contact and paymaster for the Vietnamese coup plotters, to have also been in Dallas on the day JFK was killed. After all, you can't be in two places at once, but the exposure of the *Chicago team* that was to kill JFK on the same day as Diem caused enough of a delay [3 weeks] for Conein to utilize his professionally expertise in Dallas at well, earning him the #3 position at the Nixon-established DEA after his military retirement, two years after his introduction to Nixon at the white house by E. Howard Hunt.
As we were told by Chicago Secret Service Agent Abraham Bolden, they had uncovered a plot by four men to kill JFK during his Chicago motorcade planned for November 2, 1963. An ex-Marine (with several recent parallels to Oswald) was arrested, but the four men remained at large. So, JFK had to cancel his motorcade at the last minute, even as people were lining the motorcade route. Pierre Salinger told us about the two different excuses he gave for the cancellation. In addition, Salinger--who began his work for the Kennedys as a Mafia investigator--revealed that Jack Ruby had been in Chicago a week prior to the motorcade, where he had received $7,000 from someone who worked for an associate of Trafficante and Marcello. Salinger's revelation was confirmed by two eye-witnesses and FBI reports in the National Archives.
The Tampa attempt had more than a dozen parallels to JFK's assassination in Dallas, including a male suspect in his early twenties linked to the Fair Play for Cuba Committee. The Police and Secret Service warned JFK about the threat, but JFK bravely went ahead with the motorcade anyway, because of an important speech about Cuba he had to give in Miami that night, a speech that was part of the coup plan.
I don't think so. The shot/s from the book depository didn't need to hit, but were meant as a signal for at least one other shooter [and probably other backups] to know that it was time to begin. I'd also bet quite a sizable bit of money that had the shooter/s at Dealey Plaza missed, Kennedy STILL wouldn't have reached the Dallas Trade Mart where he was to have delivered his noontime speech alive.
Having already had two similar tries on JFK foiled, those out to kill him were not about to have anything go wrong a third time. Oswald could have been hit by a bus that morning, and JFK would still be just as dead.
Was he slime when he signed the Civil Rights bill?
Oswald was there to take the fall, he called himself the patsy. See the plan worked perfectly......... for some people.
Have you not read his quote on signing that bill? "That'll keep the niggers voting democrat for years". EVERYTHING LBJ did was for LBJ.
The *Texas businessmen* whose meeting J. Edgar Hoover attended the day prior to the JFK assassination are generally known as the *8F Group* from the designation of one of the hotel conference rooms where they occasionally gathered.
The accout of Madeleine Brown:
On Thursday night, Nov. 21, 1963, the last evening prior to Camelot's demise, I attended a social at Clint Murchison's home. It was my understanding that the event was scheduled as a tribute honoring his long time friend, J. Edgar Hoover (whom Murchison had first met decades earlier through President William Howard Taft), and his companion, Clyde Tolson. Val Imm, the society editor for the now-defunct Dallas Times Herald, unwittingly documented one of the most significant gatherings in American history. The impressive guest list included John McCloy, Richard Nixon, George Brown, R. L. Thornton, H. L. Hunt and a host of others from the 8F group. The jovial party was just breaking up when Lyndon made an unscheduled visit. I was the most surprised by his appearance since Jesse had not mentioned anything about Lyndon's coming to Clint's. With Lyndon's hectic schedule, I never dreamed he could attend the big party. After all, he had arrived in Dallas on Tuesday to attend the Pepsi-Cola convention. Tension filled the room upon his arrival. The group immediately went behind closed doors. A short time later Lyndon, anxious and red-faced, re-appeared. I knew how secretly Lyndon operated. Therefore I said nothing... not even that I was happy to see him. Squeezing my hand so hard, it felt crushed from the pressure, he spoke with a grating whisper, a quiet growl, into my ear, not a love message, but one I'll always remember: "After tomorrow those goddamn Kennedys will never embarrass me again - that's no threat - that's a promise."Now, I don't know if those Hunt's are related to E. Howard Hunt.
The next morning (November 22, 1963) Madeleine tells of another brief discussion that she had with Lyndon:
I had barely eked out the words, "About last night..." when his rage virtually went ballistic. His snarling voice jolted me as never before - "That son-of- a-b---- crazy Yarborough and that g- - - - - - f - - - ing Irish mafia bastard Kennedy will never embarrass me again!"
Madeleine has stuck by her story for many years and continues to this day to say that Lyndon Johnson knew what was coming and when.
I don't believe there's any close family connection. E Howard Hunt was born in Hamburg, New York, in 1918.
