HUNT BLAMES JFK HIT ON LBJ

Only the most far-out conspiracy theorists believe in scenarios like Hunt's. But in a new memoir, "American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate & Beyond," due out in April, Hunt, 88, writes: "Having Kennedy liquidated, thus elevating himself to the presidency without having to work for it himself, could have been a very tempting and logical move on Johnson's part.

"LBJ had the money and the connections to manipulate the scenario in Dallas and is on record as having convinced JFK to make the appearance in the first place. He further tried unsuccessfully to engineer the passengers of each vehicle, trying to get his good buddy, Gov. [John] Connolly, to ride with him instead of in JFK's car - where . . . he would have been out of danger."

The so called magic bullet theory happened not with the it hit JFK in the back, went out his neck and moved 3 feet over to the right hit Connelly, when through his wrist and into his leg. The real reason it was pristine was that it only went through soft tissue, up to the point that it grased Connallys wrist (wich accounts for the dent in the tip and hit his thigh. The angle of the shot is not taking into consideration that Connally was in a jump seat, not the front seat! The Jump seat was considerable lower and to the left of JFK, verses the theory he was in the front seat and to the right of JFK as can be seen in the two frames. Notice Connally is in the middle and lower and how far away from the door he is sitting. When Kennedy grabs his throat, Connally was hit as he turns. In blowups of the photo, you can see Connallys suit coat lapel flair up as the bullet goes through him. Posner used the actual Limo and the forensic evidence of the shirts to prove that the shot lined up to one shot.

As to all the rest of the stuff of burglerys and hit teams, there is not one person that can prove it. Its all hearsay and no actual proof. Look I would like to believe the CIA or LBJ pulled it off, but so far its just not there, and Posner has been the only one so far that has gone beyond the Zapruder film to actually look at the physical evidence of the shirts, the car, the film and geometric data to show that the shot was possible! I've seen re-enactments that prove that the shot is not only possible, but the bullet tumbled through the air and remained pristine.

Guess you couldn't tell that I was joking. However, I don't agree that those of us alive won't care (and I think I've got at least another 10 years to go). If nothing else, somebody will use it to write another book and make a ton of money off it.

Most of what you say is fairly accurate, but there was no "pristine" bullet, the bullet was crushed, consistent with the wounds it inflicted.

There is so much BS in this case it's unbelievable. Do some freakin' reading people!!!

My concern lies with his tenure as liaison at the Pentagon when he claims he worked for JCS chief Gen. Lyman Lemnitzer. Was Prouty there working at the Pentagon? His involvement with the Liberty Lobby and its "historical institute" clouds his reputation.

I always liked the theory that the French did it. I'm not saying that they had a good reason for killing Kennedy, but they just might have done it without any reason. Plus, it would have made a great movie, sort of like Day of the Jackal, Part Deux.

LBJ was FURIOUS when JFK used his daddy's money to buy the primaries. Johnson felt that he DESERVED the presidency. LBJ wanted vengeance and the office he felt had been stolen from him.

I wouldn't say crushed, but there was a slight dent on the side, but everyone is trying to make it sound like it smashed though bones, when it was soft tissue and cartlidge. You are 100% correct, this case is 90% BS in the theorys. Its like going to the 9/11 conspiracy sites.

Well, he did have 1 year of Kennedy's term plus 4 years of his own and he had a bad heart as evidenced by his early death at age 65. Some think that's why he didn't want to wait out Kennedy's presumed second term before he ran himself as a motive.

I believe that's why he didn't run for his own second term. He knew his heart couldn't take the stress of the campaign and presidency. As it was, he died young anyway.

You're right, I didn't see the joke. Anyway, what I said in #190 is, "Our children won't care and by that time it will be nothing more than a side-note to history." Didn't say WE won't care. I will always be fascinated by the whole thing. But my 18-year-old son couldn't care any less than he does.

As has been pointed out on this thread, a coverup in this case by the government would send shockwaves and do even more to undermine its credibility. Things like this never stop being relevant.

One of the legitimizing myths of our government is that it serves the people and is open and just. I know, I don't believe it either, but many do and that's how society functions. A gov that plans, executes, and hides the murder of its foremost figure would be seriously damaged as a legitimate institution.

That's why other govs that have past crimes do so much to distance themselves from that regime. Germany doesn't go around calling its leader Der Fuhrer (or Die Fuhrerin, as the case may be). I'm 25, this happened way before my time, yet still affects me and interests me.

Case Closed is a good read, but please pick up a copy of "Triangle of Death". It does speak to some of the things Posner's book ignores, although at this moment in time I am unable to tell you by memory exactly what those things are. In any case, since you are interested in this subject, please take the time to read it. It's worth it. VERRRRRY interesting, documented, etc.
