You can always count on the 98ers to slink out of their rats nests to infest the threads with negative commentary.

I thought it was more like they tackled him.

"He surely upset the terrorists, the liberals, their media, and the "Holier than You" conservatives."
I don't think you actually understand American politics. Particularly American conservatives. Perhaps you had to grow up with Civics classes (back when they actually HAD those) and the generation that made us a superpower to appreciate it.

I really despise this Jim Webb guy. He is an arrogant and defeatist SOB. Virginia what have you done!

The funniest thing was the applause lines. Once they put the camera on Rahm Emanual and Steny Hoyer. They looked at each other, Steny mouthed "Do we get up?" Rahm paused like he was having to think about it. Then he nods his head yes, and they both stood up. The camera goes back to the podium and Pelosi is starting to stand up. It was obvious who the DemocRATs were taking their cues from - and it wasn't Pelosi. Bunch of phonies. LOL!!

My bottom line? Dull speech (mercifully not too long). It was not "different," was another laundry list full of many of the usual pie-in-the-sky proposals.

So he wants a stalemate where some people are free while other people to be placed under a murderous dictatorship like North Korea?

Chris Wallace called it a "mixed bag". I'd say that's about right.Seems to me that was the same comment they had about last year's SOTU. These things have become the ultimate DC dog and pony show anyhow. Absolutely none of the things he talked about have a chance of becoming reality in today's political climate, and some of them shouldn't under any circumstances. And the President knows it as well as the Dims do.

The Dem response was very shrewd at the start. But when he switched to foreign policy his creepiness could no longer be masked. And he's so full of himself he probably doesn't realize the mistake it was to propose repeating Korea. What country now has nukes and is the worst proliferation threat?
