Group Wants Webb to Rebut Bush Before Joint Session
(CNSNews.com) - A left-wing activist group is calling on Democrats to let Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) rebut the president's State of the Union address before the full joint session of Congress to symbolize the Democrats' "reclamation of power." VelvetRevolution said the Democratic response to President Bush's address is usually "an embarrassing, limp, pro forma predictable 'hey, don't forget about us!' rejoinder which the TV networks begrudgingly carry which most viewers ignore." Now, the Democratic response "can truly carry the message - from a level playing field - of how the Democrats envision their plans bettering the state of our union," the group said in a press release. Webb "should deliver his address to that same jam-packed and receptive chamber as the president is granted, demonstrating that Democrats are running Congress as a co-equal branch of government, and laying out their vision for the country," it added. "In doing so, the Democrats will finally show what they stand for - and that they will no longer be cowed - instead of merely and meekly serving as bit players and extras in a grand show which George W. Bush no longer leads," the group said.
My vote goes to Hubris.
Democrats attempting to play "Big people" again. While they're at it they should hold another mock impeachment trial in a DC basement or another invalid no confidence vote.
Talk about a Constitutional crisis. They have no standing to do this. In fact, I think I'd like them to try it.
And while he's at it he can read some of those "creative" passages from some of his books.
There ain't a chance in hell the Dem Leaders are going to be able to ignore and controll these loons for the next two years
Or maybe Joe Biden can read some creative passages from someone else's book and take them as his own.
Jim Webb is not a very likable fellow, I think it is generally acknowledged, but I have to think he has enough functioning brain cells to know how positively "Hitlerian" such an action would look. Can you see him up there, pounding the podium, spittle flying from his mouth, yelling "We have the power now, we have the power."
Wacko Webb is just the guy to work with this group.
I would hope he would get some boos from the GOP side. This would not look good. In any case, I doubt the leadership would go along.
I don't know what the rules are for calling a joint session of Congress. Since the 'Rats are in charge of both houses, maybe they can do it. But the Republicans can boycott the speech, if Webb gives it. It wouldn't look the same as a State of the Union address.
Don't ever underestimate the tendencies of leftist fringe kooks to show themselves in a bad light.
Really? I wouldn't think Babylon would be so desperate.
Then, after he says "We have the power, we have the power"....he will then advocate what was found out today...that he wants the funds that are going to help Iraq....to go to NEW ORLEANS, instead!!
Doncha know the CBC would be on their feet giving the man a standing O....and hey, maybe Wm. Jefferson (Democrat), Louisiana...MAY run up on stage, and ask where is the money!!!
That reminds me...have you noticed how all of a sudden the Dems have been correcting talk show hosts and reporters...telling them to call them the "DemocraTIC" party...instead of the "Democrat" Party???
I do believe they are wrong....jmo
I thought there were much better looking whores in Babylon?
But, seriously, if theses Dems try this, sadly, they'll probably be allowed to get away with it.
It's not Congress - it's the Fourth Duma.
When they win the White House, then they can address a joint Congress.
Mary Landrieu would deck him with a kung fu move the like of which have never been seen. She gets hers first. LOL. What a scene. We could do a script.
Dem [Dear] Leaders are these loons... They were hiding before the elections out of sight and behind faux "local conservative" candidates...
