Astute observations.

she might get elected, but it doesn't mean she's some sort of genius... she's as clumsy a politician as she is arrogant

Regarding the timing, perhaps she was trying to avoid Friday's open lines with Rush and the rest of the boys?

Maybe she's over confident and just doesn't care?

Well: I was certainly surprised when she announced she was running for President. I had no idea she even wanted the job.

I thought she was perfectly happy as the cheated on Senator-housewife of the rapist Bill Clinton.

Now Gore can trump them all by not announcing until late in 2007. According to the KosNazis, this race is Gore's to lose.

>I’m spent many years in TV network news. I polled old friends and acquaintances today and with one exception, all agreed that Hillary Clinton’s announcement today that she is running for President (yawn) is a HUGE misstep

TV news? You mean
you asked the dinosaur's brains
their opinion? So?

One possibility...

She really doesn't want to garner lots and lots of public attention and spotlight on herself and her "persona", but she did have to announce something due to the exploratory committee thingy. The reason being, she comes across poorly.

The more people get a true "feel" for what she is like, the less they like the thought of her being President of the United States of America.

She would rather fly under the radar, to the extent that's possible, and just trade off her being a woman, a Clinton, etc.

Hmmmmm?

Next, she has based her campaign on “Stopping Bush.” That’s got about 30 days worth of legs.

Yeah, because as of Jan. 21, 2009, Bush is "stopped" anyways. What's she got to bitch about after that?

I agree. It was way too early for her to announce.

She should have let Obama take the heat and questions and spotlight for months.

Although Dick Morris on Hannity said that the nominations would basically be over by December, that may not be true. The primaries won't have even started by then.

As you say, she has 20 months of exposure. Now every utterance she makes it political. One or two major flubs, and her candidacy falls into the trash bin of wannabes, right beside Howard Dean's.

I guarantee you she already spend hundreds of thousands on media consultants, some of whom insisted she make the announcement exactly when she did. Everything with her is mapped out like the genome project.

I notice that MSNBC gave her a full hour of free propaganda today. I wonder how many of their 300,000 viewers were watching.

For Hillary, the timing isn't that important. Everyone knew a long time ago that she would be running. She is the best known of all the candidates and has the best and most well funded campaign machine. Everyone else is trying to play catch-up.

It really has nothing to do with Obama. The first Dem Presidential debate takes place in South Carolina on April 26. All of the Dem candidates are getting into the race now.

Hillary's announcement is just ho-hum. It is almost anti-climatic. She is having a three day long announcement starting Monday. The MSM will be covering her non-stop from here on out. The Queen is ready for the coronation.

Perhaps her own calculation indicated to her a stealth initiation of her campaign.

Astute observations, I agree sir, but come Monday, the Lame Stream/Lap Dog Media, whose various names are well-earned, will cover for her, and will be talking about her announcement like it was the most important thing since Christ walked the earth.

So in the end, it seems to me, her major boo-boo unfortunately, won't hurt her prez chances that much.

This is EXACTLY what she wants.

I've had this theory even since the Oboomlet started. Obama is there to take the attention off of Hillary. She'd love to parachute into the primaries, but she has to declare now in order to start raising money.

For the next few months, she'll be the only candidate looking NOT to get media attention.

She doesn't want to do anything unscripted and she'll desperately avoid any IA or NH retail campaigning.
