Senior TV Network Newsies Think Hillary's Announcement Huge Mistake.
Network newsie friends | MB26

Posted on 01/20/2007 2:32:19 PM PST by MindBender26

As many FReepers know, I’m spent many years in TV network news. I polled old friends and acquaintances today and with one exception, all agreed that Hillary Clinton’s announcement today that she is running for President (yawn) is a HUGE misstep.

First, she did it at a time guaranteed to get her minimum television exposure. The Saturday HUT (Homes Using Television) numbers are miniscule. When was the last time the Saturday Noon News was a “must see” for anyone?

In addition, anyone watching TV today or tomorrow is probably a man and he is tuned into sports. Not Hillary’s target audience!

She should have announced on 4:00 P.M on Thursday, after appearing earlier in the day on GMA, Today, CBSMN, and especially “The View” to coyly announce that she just might have something importance to announce “soon.”

By announcing at 4:00 on a Thursday, she would have been the lead story on all that evening’s newscasts. Thursday is often the second highest rated show of the week. Then she would have been topic #1 that night and all day Friday. She could have been back on the AM shows and The View on Friday, perhaps even a quick Oprah appearance. Friday night’s national news shows would have been all reaction stories, a visit to her hometown, yada yada yada, etc. She would have owned 36 hours of prime TV.

As it is, she chose the absolutely worst time. The Sunday AM shows will be all over it, but no undecided voters watch those shows. She will get no mojo or movement from them. By Monday, it’s old news.

Next her method of announcement. She posted it as a statement on her website.

Idiotic.

She could have gathered 2000 screaming, sigh waving supporters on the Capitol steps, balloons, a band, etc. Could have been a huge hoop de do! CNN, FNC and others would have covered it live, etc. As it was, nothing! In the words of one senior editor, “She mailed it in!”

Next, she has based her campaign on “Stopping Bush.” That’s got about 30 days worth of legs. In addition, everything she says for the next 20 months will be seen as “political.” She just threw away any chance she had of being seen as a healer or “statesman” like. Politically, she just painted a huge target on her back. Every time she says word one on any issue, an “independent” third party spokesperson can rake her over the coals, and the Republicans can stay above it all.

Finally, everyone sees it for what it is. She panicked over Obama.

He is a 60 day flash in the pan, this year’s Weasley Clark or Howard Dean. America is not about to elect a Black, Muslim-trained, admitted cocaine-using man President, no matter how good he looks on TV… this month.

The media loves him…. this month. The media that loves him now will fill the air with “investigative stories” about him next month. By April at the latest, he will be very old news

Bottom line on that issue; Hillary stood eye to eye against a totally non-electable presidential candidate…. from her own party…. and she blinked!

Mark Halperin at ABC is gushing over her announcement, but everyone else is saying “Huh?”

Another said, "She has been planning this for 20 or 30 years, and this is her best shot!?!?" "What's next, shooting Santa Claus on Christmas Eve?"

>>I guarantee you she already spend hundreds of thousands on media consultants, some of whom insisted she make the announcement exactly when she did. Everything with her is mapped out like the genome project.

>You bet she has and you bet that's the advise she was given. These bozos all have handlers....and:

Hillary has a strong history of NOT listening to the handlers. Bill listened to them all, and took the action recommended by the last one he spoke with, which was often Hillary.

I guess I just got my official wake-up call.

I will do everything in my power as a citizen of this nation to put out the truth of this vile, sorry excuse for a human being.

Richardson could also lay claim to having foreign policy experience, something that none of the other contenders have. The Hildebeast's choice probably was influenced by Obama. She can't afford to let him keep stealing her thunder and you can expect her to come out swinging in the days ahead.

Thanks for the information. Actually I already was aware of Obama's history, but others may not be.

I believe I read that Gore has already announced that he will NOT run for president. Anyone?

She'd kill him in plain sight, and he knows it.

Good analysis. How could anybody who "panics" over an inconsequential, flash-in-the-pan, oily scumbag like Obama ever be seriously considered for the highest office in the land?

This is going to be one funny primary season. I think the rat nominee will be somebody else entirely. Heck, the rats may even end up settling for that jackpot-justice, slip-'n-fall scumbag lawyer Edwards for their nominee.

I have a question for your newsie friends. Do they think the country will tolerate the sound of Hillary's voice?

It's my belief- based on not a whit of scientific evidence- that Hillary's voice, tenor, tone and screech factor will do her in...

When candidates get on the campaign trail they go day and night...talk, talk, talking endlessly. Then the speeches in front of 100 or 1,000. They holler, they yell, they shout.

Think back to the last time you heard Hillary in front of a crowd.

I rest my case.

Agreed. Anything that will give her more power, more opportunity to enrich $$$$$ herself through shameless corruption. But, she's got that lifetime Senate seat to fall back upon.

I wonder how much in "campaign contributions" she'll be able to siphon into her offshore accounts for this run? It's a no-lose situation for Her Lowness.

I am far more concerned and even fearful for our nation should that horror of a human being become the commander in chief than I am either of those two politicians. Of that, there is no doubt.

that Hillary's voice, tenor, tone and screech factor will do her in...

The voice, and also what the voice is saying are going to be a real problem. Can't fool all the people all the time.

She'll probably have her vocal chords altered...or have everything pre-recorded, and she'll have someone adjust her voice before we hear it.

That voice is AWFUL!!!

"she cheats, so she knows that she'll win."

Time to bring out the faulty machine lines. After all, how do I know my vote counted? I didn't see any receipt after I voted by touchscreen.

Oh, yeah. Paybacks a witch.

Wasn't Richardson a failure at the most important task he was given by Clinton? I'm referring to his assignment to find a job for Monica.

Yeah, but you watch. If the Mainly Sleazy Mediots want her to be President, they will hide her shrill moments from the sheeple at all costs. All they have to do is mute the audio, and "explain" to us what she's orating. No amount of dishonesty is beneath them, when they set their narcissistic sights on a goal.

It's going to be interesting to see them at their George Orwell best. And, even more interesting to see how dumbed-down the voters are. Will they fall for it?

If McCain ends up being the R nominee, they can easily destroy him by provoking him into fits of anger, and replaying it over, and over, and over, a la Rodney King. Does a third-party vote-sucker lurk?

This is going to be interesting, IMO.

Her announcement would be hotly covered by the newsies.

Yes she could have made her announcement a big event, built anticipation, and taken oxygen from the others.

She didn't use her star power ( in the eyes of Dems) correctly.

She and Obama/Osama may very well dirty each other up while every other candidate sits back and watches for awhile.
