U.S. MULLS IRAN ATTACK IN EARLY 2007

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has signaled to Gulf Arab allies that an attack on Iran could take place in 2007.

Diplomatic sources said the Bush administration has raised the prospect of a U.S. strike on Iran over the next few months. The sources said the discussions with Gulf Cooperation Council states have also been conducted by U.S. Central Command as well as the U.S. intelligence community.

"There has not been a U.S. commitment, but the discussions have been interpreted as an expression of intent," the source said. "Right now, the U.S. message is that the GCC must get ready for any contingency."

On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice meets foreign ministers from the GCC states as well as Egypt and Jordan. The sources said Ms. Rice intends to brief the foreign ministers on U.S. strategy toward Iraq and Iran in a meeting scheduled to take place in Kuwait.

" I'm afraid an attack on Iran while we are still heavily involved in Iraq would cause riots over here "

it would be a perfect time to round up all the Illegals and send them packing home, and HLS/FBI to round up the terrorist cells who are in this country.

I think if we took out Ahmadinnerjacket the population in Iran would rejoice.

From what I hear, the younger population of Iran loves the USA

We know exactly what we are doing with the additional forces and carrier groups.

Iran has recently gotten the attitude that they can do whatever they want and nothing happens to them. I mean getting REALLY cocky with their words but more importantly actions , so we are putting more pressure.

Result: Sadr tells his guys to stand down, and go home (for now) and Amanotjob in Iran starts getting rumblings of uncomfort.

Just relax, what needs to be done in Iran will be done, don't project your fears onto our strategy.

For example, the 'handoff' of the diplomacy to the EU3+Germany years ago was not done by accident.

You are correct about the pro-democracy forces within Iran, they are in consideration.

Remember what Bush said about fighting the Iran/Syria influence on Iraq from within Iraq (but not going to or even really calling out Iran).

The larger solution to Iran takes all 3 of the above and applies it to Iran as economic/political/militaristic synergy of forces and how it relates to Iraq.

Who cares what the left's reaction is anymore? No matter what Bush does he gets crucified in the media and everywhere. If you're going to get lambasted, you might as well make your actions count! Our enemies don't fear us...they need to. It's the only thing those medievel bastards understand. Let's see if some saber rattling can get Ahmanutjob outsted...and if it can't, bombs away...can't say we didn't warn you...

On FOX this a.m., there was news about possibly impeaching him. The Iranians aren't too pleased with him. He's a kook.
I wish I'd have seen the whole story. That's all I caught.

Eight Arab nations also endorsed Bush's plan to send more troops to Iraq, but the MSM hardly mentioned this news.

Not very likely. They won't need much time to inflict a lot of damage.

"The Left doesn't have the balls to fight in the street anymore."

In the past, the right has always maintained their daily routines in the face of left winged assaults on the country. I don't think that the left can count on that passivity by the right in the future. I believe the right now sees the fraud that the left is and will fight to maintain the freedoms and liberty the left wants to delete. The price of liberty is eternal vigilante! Decisions regarding national security shouldn't be decided by who might riot. If the left seeks rioting to influence national policy, thus freeing itself from the ballot box decision making system, then the right will be freed from that system as well. It will be interesting times. In regards to Iran; we will fight them now, or we will fight them later, but we will fight them unless they change their present course.

There are, of course, a lot of variables here:

1. How close are the Iranians to nuclear weapons?
2. How many sites do they have?
3. Where are the sites located?
4. How would the mission be accomplished.

I'm sure even if A-jad had nukes, he is not going to threaten the gulf states w/ nukes because once he uses them, all bets are off.

Yep. He's free to do what he feels is necessary for national security. It's his job. "Opinions" are manufactured by the press anyway, so they shouldn't matter.

The REASON Iran has gotten so cocky lately is because, if you recall, we handed the whole Iran nuclear issue over to the Europeans to solve. They were bellyaching about Bush and the U.S. going it alone in Iraq and demanded international leadership.

What happens? We hand the problem over to the Europeans and they(predictably) talk the issue to death and do NOTHING! Thus, they talk and their diplomats talk all the while they get away literally with murder.

So, while there is certainly a time to "talk with Iran" or N. Korea, the lefties are again shown impotent and on the WRONG side of history.

I saw a good movie a few days ago on the TCM channel with Clarke Gable and Burt Lancaster ( Run Silent, Run Deep ) were they evaded a Japanese sub by shutting of their engines and remain silent, and then surfaced and take a few shots at a Japanese ship to cause the Japanese sub to surface so they can take out the enemy sub.

The diesel boats the Iranians have can stay under for a pretty good amount of time, and if they are'nt moving, it would prove very hard to find them without going active.

Right. Rush mentioned yesterday that the GOP "electeds" have decided to just go along with whatever the dems want for the next two years.

So, The cowards that they are have decided to just gather their perks, enjoy the country club association with the "ruling party of America". Apparently they have decided we lost power over Iraq, not because they did nothing with the power in their hands.

Guess they just won election so as to dip their hands into the lifetime salary members of congress get.

We should totally ignore their reaction - do you see any of them worrying about our reactions to their "rule"?

We give them the power by our own actions.
