As debate continues nationwide on what to do about illegal immigration, several communities across the country have taken steps of their own to combat the problem.

For example, Valley Park, Mo., enacted an ordinance last summer to fine landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and deny city contracts to businesses that hire illegal aliens. Similar ordinances have been adopted in Hazelton, Pa., and Cherokee County, Ga. In Suffolk County, N.Y., Beaudort County, S.C. and Pickens County, S.C., ordinances have been adopted requiring businesses to attest they aren’t hiring illegal aliens and forfeiting county business with any that do.

"we should create a fund to help local communities defend themselves against ACLU...."

Great idea! I wonder if there isn't one somewhere?

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

~10th Ammendment to the constitution.

The American Communist Litigators Union says and does a lot of things because "We The People" are lazy stupid and ignorant. The immigration issue has been confused with the Naturalization issue.

The pertinent sections of the US Constitution are:
Article 1, Section 8 which among other things stipulates:
"To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization......

I don't see anything about immigration which takes place before a person can be naturalized.
Amendment X to the US Constitution which says:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Sure sounds like that authority belongs to the people since it is not reserved by United States, and the States haven't stepped up to the plate.

Of course I'm not a lawyer and probably don't understand the nuances involved in something that appears to be this clear and unambiguous!

I would like to add something to this particular story. Since we have problems getting our Congress to do the will of the people there are ways to go around the Congress if an organized effort is put together in each state to put for amendments to be added to the Constitution. Are there people in at least 38 states willing to put forth the effort?

Article V
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

"We should create a fund to help local communities to defend themselves against ACLU and other enemies of America"

Somewhere I read that some jurisdiction required that any group like the ACLU, pay for any litigation. I think this may be the way. If every American jurisdiction would enact strong legislation against illegals, the ACLU would bankrupt itself.

We should push an amendment preventing the judicial branch's intervention into any laws enacted by a 2/3 majority of voters.

The ACLU would die on the vine.
