Nifong was a social worker, do not forget. If he had a typical caseload, surely he came across one or 2 manics or schizophrenics. They are liars by nature of the disease. And they believe their lies.

I don't have any professional experience. But I will acknowledge that I have been struck by the ability of a few manic-depressives of my acquaintance to be the most fabulous liars I have ever encountered.

Admittedly, I consider my personal anecdotes to be worth slightly more than squat.

Adding to your bit of squat, you will also notice that depressives USE their illness as an excuse for just about everything.

I've nailed my brother a few times on it and he was told "loud and clear" that I knew his lies were deliberate and that he knew they were deliberate.
