Words cannot express my heartfelt sorrow for you. I have had the extreme honor of being in the immediate presence of some when they have given their lives for their country and those they love. I thank our God for men such as your son, for their devotion and obedience.
But we sorrow not as others sorrow, for our hope is in the Lord, Jesus Christ. His death, for us, His devotion and obedience enable us to rest in God's peace that passes all understanding. For those whose trust is in Him, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
I am thankful that you know and understand that you have One who is seated at the right hand of the majesty on high, interceding for you. May His peace encompass you.
Oh that the Lord will bless you and your family richly as He brings the beauties of your son, and the glories and beauty of His Son, to your remembrance.

From the tribute page you linked:
Chris held a strong faith in Christ; he valued his salvation, valued his family, valued his friends, valued his life and always had fun no matter what he did. He always made everyone around him smile and laugh. I never once saw him in a bad mood, I never heard him complain about anything. I ALWAYS heard him thank God for all that he was blessed with. I have peace in knowing that he is with our Father in heaven and is happier now than he ever could have been on this earth. I will forever cherish the memories I have of him and the great times we shared.
We are the poorer for Chris's passing. Wonder what his new body is like!

To: Dad of Chris Mason
All mankind is of one author,
and is one volume;
when one man dies,
one chapter is not torn out of the book,
but translated into a better language;
and every chapter must be so translated;
God employs several translators;
some pieces are translated by age,
some by sickness,
some by war,
some by justice;
but God's hand is in every translation,
and his hand shall bind up
all our scattered leaves again,
for that library where every book
shall lie open to one another

There is nothing I can say which will fill the empty places in your lives. That I leave to Jesus.
Thank you for raising a fine young man.
May we, individually, and as a nation, be worthy of his sacrifice on our behalf, and the grief you feel as a result.

Unto You, O Lord, we return with praise and thanksgiving, for You are the Creator of Life and the One in Whom there is Life Eternal. Through tears of sorrow we grieve the passing of Chris Mason from mortal life to eternal life, yet knowing that neither time nor distance will ever erase his devotion to You or to his country or his love of family and friends.
Blessed are we among the nations, Merciful Father, for You are the Foundation on which our beloved United States of America rests, and from this Foundation You have raised up noble sons and daughters who bring the Testimony of Your Word to a dark and dreary world. We cannot know the impact of a life well-lived for You, but one day You will make it all plain ... unnamed and obscure people will come before Your Throne to testify of the many and mighty things done by an American son, Chris Mason.
His earthly father notes ... "I love my country." And from this, God of the Nations, comes life and liberty to a far-off people. Chris' Mom and Dad have joined thousands upon thousands of other families who today, and in times past, have said, "I love my country."
"Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13. We praise You, our Blessed Savior, that though Chris' young life has ended in this realm, his eternal life is forever in Your Presence, and joyful reunion awaits.
Blessed be Your Name, now and forevermore, Amen ...
