KTVI STL FOX 9pm News

Devlin was on Hwy 50 (west) taking Shawn to visit Tony just a few weeks before Ben was kidnapped (Tony may live in Union, MO but this was not said). Beaufort is just down Hwy 50 (west) about 12 miles away. Police know that Devlin was in the area at least twice in the weeks before Ben was kidnapped. (once in Union MO and once in Washington MO.

from Kirkwood, one would take I-44 (south) west to Hwy 50 (west) to get to Union MO and Beaufort MO is just 12 miles farther west on Hwy 50. (Washington MO is North of Union MO - probably about 25 miles north of Union MO)

A friend of Tony's lives right outside of Beaufort, MO. Devlin had instructions on how to get to this friend of Tony's house. This house was located just down the road slightly from Ben's school bus stop. The people who own the house said that Devlin/Shawn had not been to their house that they know of. The FBI has spoken in depth to these "friends" and the friends say they had no idea that Shawn was kidnapped victim Shawn Hornbeck.

It is still unknown at this time if a search warrant will be issued for the Woodland Lakes property connected to Devlin. But the property has been secured by the sheriff's dept and the Woodland Lakes community operators.

KMOV STL CBS 10pm News

Investigators spent just over 3 hours at Devlin's apt again today gathering more evidence and items from the apt.

(from the video - they had a bunch of stuff with them all wrapped in bags or brown kraft paper wrap. On item was definately was a Queen or King size Box Spring or Queen or King Top Bed Mattress - it was not a futon mattress as it was to "stiff and stood upright on it's own" to be a futon mattress. But they alse carried out a futon wood slat couch/bed frame... the kind that is a couch but folds down into a bed. The side arms were still on the futon couch frame.)

They also searched through Devlin's apt storage room. Neighbors said that there had not been any police activity around or inside the apt since Devlin was arrested.

The warrant issued today to search Devlin's apt again was sealed by a judge. No details of it will not be released until after any upcoming trial.

So they took the full Futon set-up with them (futon couch/bed wood frame and thin pillow top like futon mattress)

and they also took a King or Queen size box spring of mattress with them (to me it looks more like a box spring as it was real smooth and flat looking under the paper and not pillowed topped like a mattress would be - but I would guess they took the top mattress also with them but that it was not caught on tape)

OK - thanks! I don't quite understand about the people near Beaufort saying Devlin hadn't been there. Hmmmm.

Creeps me out to see that Hwy 185 runs N/S thru Beaufort, crossing SH 50, then straight down to Woodland Lakes.

that part of the story was kinda strange.

I think Tony (Shawn's 15 year old friend form Kirkwood lives in Union Mo now) and that Tony's brother and his wife are considered the friends that live just outside of Union and on the very edge of Beaufort near Ben's School Bus stop.

So it is possible that Shawn was given directions to both places in the event that Devlin brought Shawn out to Franklin County blindly and if he was not at home at his mom's in Union to come by his brothers house just outside of Union but on the edge of Beaufort.

The about Devlin/Shawn not being at the "friends" house may have been because they may have not been home at the time Devlin drove Shawn out there. In otherwords they have never witness Devlin or Shawn being at the house before.

Pure speculation I know. But you know Devlin may have had in mind all along to go out there and drop Shawn off friends andn cruise the country roads seeking out future victims while Shawn was with Tony. Devlin probably had no problem with driving Shawn out there blindly to see Tony. (what I mean by blindly is - he really didn't care iof Tony would be home or not - it gave him a chance to scope out the area and to see what daily life was like in the are during the weeks before he decided to grab another child.)

If you saw this child from a distance at 10 pm at night riding her bike in small southeastern town. Would you think that she might be a boy with a mullet hair style? (ignore the permed hair as I don't think her hair was permed at the time she came up missing.)

I do think they look somewhat alike. If the little girl had her hair up inside a cap or winter hat she would look like a little boy from a distance.

Not to me - but the first little girl looks like Shawn, IMO.

She was kidnapped back in 1989 and they wore mullets back then. I was just doing some searches on her case and had no idea that they think they know who killed her but they did not have enough evidence to convict them and they never found her body.

Her name is Gina Dawn Brooks - you can google it.

He came up missing in 1988 when Devlin was 22 years old. He was snatched in St. Charles MO about 20 miles from Kirkwood. At the time the area where he was grabbed was fairly undeveloped it was mostly farmland. Also St. Charles MO is very close to where Arlin came up missing from. St. Charles is about 20 minutes away from Moscow Mills MO.
