that is exactly what i kept thinking myself yesterday. The DA and SHerrif in Washington county put BOR in his place yesterday rightly so!
she is on ABC here in Dallas. I'm not sure where in texas you are, but here she is on at 4pmct on WFAA/8/ABC.
WOW, i knew he posted that. Amazing! It was like he was hoping that they would tell him they would continue to search for him till he was found or something and was trying to reach out to them. So sad!

I mean, on a daily basis you get so many weird, out-there messages," Craig says. "We've dealt with children coming onto the website, to the chat room, and saying they're Shawn."

Let me just ask this? Am I the only one who has just fallen apart and cried out to God over what happend to this child? My heart is so broken over SHawn Hornbeck and other missing children. I haven't been like this since the loss of Terri Schiavo. When I think about this poor boy everyday praying and asking to be rescued it tears me up and I start crying.
I think if I wasn't a mother of two boys(one who has dark brown eyes and dark hair like Shawn) that maybe this wouldn't affect me as much.
"[I feel] thankful that he held in there for those couple of days, and I'm sorry for what he went through, because I told myself a long time ago I never want any other kid to go through what I went through," Shawn says. "But I am thankful for him for holding in there, and I'm happy that he's back with his family."

My son is 16 yrs old and looks very similar to Shawn. Tall, slim, very dark hair and big brown eyes. It sure makes me appreciate him all the more. I cannot imagine what Pam has gone thru without her son for the last 4 yrs. I really pray that the distance they are feeling between them is only temporary and they draw closer than ever.
good, it is nice to know I'm not the only one! I think as being a mother of a boy you can relate. Mine are younger, 8 and 4, although soon to be here in a couple of months 5 and 9! My nine year old is the one who reminds me a bit of Shawn with his big brown eyes, thin, brown hair, sweet smile as well.
I think most people see boys as suppose to be rough and tough, but to us moms they are our baby's!

You bet they are our babies. When I tell my son of the dangers out there, he is typical boy though....he says, Ah Mom,,,I know all of this already...but I don't care, 16 or no 16, as long as I am his mother, he will hear it.
Seriously though, I read a good point. We tell our children how not to get abducted but we fail to tell them what to do if they do get abducted. This is something that needs to be addressed.
I haven't been crying...But I have been thanking God for these boys being found, every time I think of it! And I've been praying for their healing.
I read that the perp has pleaded "not guilty." How on earth can he think he is not guilty? I wonder how many kids he has harmed throughout the years?
to true, we have failed our children by not telling them what to do if they do get abducted. We have only told them how to prevent it.
I have already started talking to my boys this week about that. My oldest is obviously older and understands it better, but basically I said if someone ever gets a hold of you don't believe anything they say because they are liars. I told him to get away from the creep as fast as he can when the creep is not around. I can't believe I actually had to tell my son that, but he understood and said he would never believe anyone who kidnap's a child!
who knows what kind of not guilty story he is going to have. I bet he is going to claim insanity or something rediculous like that. None of it will matter. He will go down and there is no plea deal that his defense could work up for him that would be acceptable by the DA IMO! I think he is going to trial and will get the max!

He is also the victim of a child snatching that he was lucky enough to quickly escape from when he was 7 years old. As a victim and a law enforcement officer, Clint says he understands why people in Shawn and Ben's situation wouldn't call home.
Clint warns people not to buy into the "psychobabble" they might hear on television. "The bottom line is if you're 11 or 13 and you've got a potentially 6-foot-4, 300-pound aggressor…you do what you have to do to survive sometimes," Clint says.
During Ben and Shawn's healing process, Clint says it's imperative not to ask one simple question. "What we don't want to do is say, 'Why?' Why didn't you call? Why didn't you pick up the phone?" Clint says. "Because he was traumatized. Because he was frightened. Because he was in a survival mode. There are emotional handcuffs. There are psychological prisons we can be in without bars."
Clint also says to give these boys time. "We need to give these two kids some slack and let them have time to find themselves," Clint says. "Let them create new memories."

Hornbeck, Ownby Families Appear On 'Oprah'
KSDK - The families of Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby appeared separately on "Oprah" Thursday. They appeared separately, Oprah said, at the request of the F.B.I., as agents continue investigations.
Many questions remain after the rescue of the boys, but the biggest questions from the public are those of what happened to Shawn and how he was held in captivity for so long.
"The world wants to know, and we want to know, but that's not the important thing," said Craig Akers, Shawn's stepfather. Shawn's parents did say they are working with professional counselors, and that advice to them was that they should wait for Shawn to be ready to tell them what happened. His parents did say that they believe Shawn was sexually abused, and that he was tortured, whether mentally or physically. But they also said that's what most important is what happens now, not what happened in the past.
Shawn described parts of his time. "I would mostly sleep," he said. "It's the only way I could ever pass the time. It's basically what I did, sleep watch tv, play video games."

Though not mentioned on the show, those conversations apparently included one with Geoff Hadler, a neighbor who had noticed the truck earlier Thursday but did not have a phone available to call police. Hadler told NewsChannel 5 he spoke with the officers, who agreed that the truck resembled the description put forth on the Amber Alert."
Huh? This guy's story keeps changing. On Friday, his wife told the press that they had called the police hundreds of times.
I am just speculating here, but if Devil did kill earlier boys, he may have showed Shawn that evidence.
Wow, this is good. I guess Oprah did ask Shawn privately why he did not call his parents. It seems to me this question would cause shame and guilt in the victim which is the last thing one should do.
I understand the perp said after a long pause, "I am not guilty".
