I might have found my great grandfather, who left England for Australia about 1890, and later got over to California. Hard to tell, because many of the listings (including the one I think might be him) don't include first names.

Between 1890 and 1914 an estimated 125,000 Britons emigrated every year to the United States, with 50,000 going to Canada and 25,000 to Australia. My grandfather, who died at age 96 in 1981, immigrated to Canada in 1905.
Quebec City was his port of entry.

Do you have a link to the actual article? The link you posted goes to the Yahoo News page with all different stories. I tried searching the page using “Historic passenger lists of ships go online” and nothing comes up. Thanks.
