Any Free Republic posters up to ping about this.

Not a good thing...?
Blowing the street clean? ah...do they know what IT was that killed the birds or where it is?
Perhaps a Tom Lehrer fan was taking things a bit too seriously???
Poisoning Pigeons in the Park
I'd like to take you now on wings of song as it were, and try and help you forget, perhaps, for a while, your drab wretched lives. Here is a song all about springtime in general, and in particular about one of the many delightful pastimes that the coming of spring affords us all.
Spring is here, a-suh-puh-ring is here.
Life is skittles and life is beer.
I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring.
I do, don't you? 'Course you do.
But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me,
And makes every Sunday a treat for me.
All the world seems in tune
On a spring afternoon,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
Every Sunday you'll see
My sweetheart and me,
As we poison the pigeons in the park.
When they see us coming, the birdies all try an' hide,
But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide.
The sun's shining bright,
Everything seems all right,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
We've gained notoriety,
And caused much anxiety
In the Audubon Society
With our games.
They call it impiety
And lack of propriety,
And quite a variety
Of unpleasant names.
But it's not against any religion
To want to dispose of a pigeon.
So if Sunday you're free,
Why don't you come with me,
And we'll poison the pigeons in the park.
And maybe we'll do
In a squirrel* or two,
While we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
We'll murder them all amid laughter and merriment,
Except for the few we take home to experiment.
My pulse will be quickenin'
With each drop of strych'nine
We feed to a pigeon.
(It just takes a smidgin!)
To poison a pigeon in the park.
Thank you!
Bird flu?
...Martian death ray.
To those looking for answers...God knows who did it.
Matthew 10:29 "Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father (knowing it).
maybe the core of the earth stopped spinning sending the birds into the side of a building hence killing them
Tall communications-towers hidden by fog has killed thousands of nighttime migratory birds at several sites in the US and Canada. (Now-extinct site was www.towerkills.org).
Somebody get a new pellet rifle for Christmas?
I don't think its terrorism.
For many years, Pittsburgh news anchor Bill Burns suggeted killing this city's pigeons. Never did, but maybe someone in Austin is following through.
Burns commentated once that Pittsburgh ought to kill its pigeons, freeze dry them and ship them to Ethiopia to relieve a famine over there.
I don't see the humor in this report that others seems to see.
"Paging Tippi Hedren......."
Bush's fault!
"There was no mention of what kind of birds were involved."
That's funny! I hope they were Grackles. Nobody cares for them.
There was a hail storm a year or so ago that killed thousands of Grackles and other birds in Austin. Not much news on that story at the time.
Coyboys fans committing mass suicide?...........
Musta been one helluva stone...
