WEIRD BUT TRUE
By LUKAS I. ALPERT, Wire Services
January 5, 2007 -- An 80-year-old Wisconsin man beat back a thief - with a shoehorn.
Police said the would-be burglar kicked in the man's door, demanded cash and threatened to shoot him. But the victim picked up a long shoehorn and began smacking the robber with it, driving him from the home.
Unfortunately, that drove the man to another home, which he robbed. He was later arrested.

That item pictured is legal. It has a sixteen-inch barrel handle, non-detachable.
What is illegal is the snub-nosed 'Saturday Night Specials' that are made of cheap metal and highly concealable. I don't know if there are any that autoload the feet (feet-o-loaders?). I think most are single shot.
Fortunately the snub-nosed shoehorns are very inaccurate at more than arm's length. You have to be a federal footerarms dealer to possess one.
TO ALL: Sorry if you thought this was corn-y. ;^)

If I had been there, I would have been shouting,"Sock him!" Stop running your tongue.

Trying to stop a thief in your home is not instep with what's recommended by law enforcement. Anyway, they'll probably catch the perp and his case will clog the legal system for years...

I have my dad's shoehorn, about that size. And it's not registered.
We have to watch out for the sawed-off shoehorns!

Yep.
I am currently stockpiling my own arsenal of deadly and dangerous shoehorns as well.
I have collected assault shoehorns, shoehorns with silencers, fully automatic shoehorns, laser guided shoehorns and of course the bazooka of all shoehorns...the size 13 shoehorn!

Unfortunately, that drove the man to another home, which he robbed. Hmmm, guess the old man didn't beat him hard enough.

That's amazing that one can beat a thief with a shoehorn.

This is one of those crimes that a lengthy sentence just doesnt do justice, said Sheriff Todd Nehls. The torment and anguish will be with them forever. I'm not exactly sure what the Sheriff is saying here, but let me go on record as saying that this crime deserves as long a sentence as possible with NO Huber privileges. They have copped to at least 3 home invasions. Lock 'em up and lose the key. I don't care how "tormented and anguished" they are.
