On Fox News now. The Texas Flag in front of the high school is flying below the US flag on a single flag pole. Can't they afford a second pole so the Texas flag can fly next to the US flag - where it is supposed to be?
Nope, not in Texas. Do your homework :-)
Again, not in Texas
What do you want to do....throw them to the lions?
California belonged to Spain. for a brieef period of time texas was it's own independent country belonging to no one but themselves.
They can beg to differ all they want to.
Geez, somebody kill these Communists...
Because Texas was once an independent Republic, the state flag can fly at the same height as the US flag.
I believe Texas is the only state that by law, the state flag should fly at the same level as the U.S. Flag.
Must be a slow news day.
There are a few buildings here that have both the American and Washington flags on the same pole. No big deal, as long as the American flag is on top.
Probably just video for the cheerleader story.
Why anyone would want to fly the union flag higher than the flag of the state of which they are a citizen is beyond me.
Well, if they only have one flagpole.
In any case, US Flag Code requires that Old Glory be flown in the superior position, even if the flags are flown at the same height.
A Rest Area on Interstate 95 in Southern Florida had their state flag flying at full mast while the USA flag was at half mast. (another no no of flag etiquette.)

From the American Legion
The flag, when carried in a procession with another flag or flags, should be either on the marching right; that is, the flag's own right, or, if there is a line of other flags, in front of the center of that line.
(a) The flag should not be displayed on a float in a parade except from a staff, or as provided in subsection (i) of this section.
(b) The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat. When the flag is displayed on a motorcar, the staff shall be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender.
(c) No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof: Provided, That nothing in this section shall make unlawful the continuance of the practice heretofore followed of displaying the flag of the United Nations in a position of superior prominence or honor, and other national flags in positions of equal prominence or honor, with that of the flag of the United States at the headquarters of the United Nations.
(d) The flag of the United States of America, when it is displayed with another flag against a wall from crossed staffs, should be on the right, the flag's own right, and its staff should be in front of the staff of the other flag.
"except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy."
You better save a copy those rules. The first photo of the Muslim pennant over the U.S. flag on an American warship, is really going to open a hornets nest when it hits FR.
Smile when you say that pilgrim. ;-)~
Yes - it's pretty much a "Mexican-American" neighborhood.
Hawaii? Granted, it was a kingdom, not a republic, bit it was a separate nation.
My understanding from reading some local articles about this some time ago was that Texas is allowed that honor because they used to be independent AND did win a war against a foreign power during that time.
Cali and Hawaii never did that.
I wonder how they are handling the news over at the eternal natalie holloway thread feast (I wonder how many threads they are up to, I think they were at 31 last time I checked).
