Too bad. If he's disbarred, can he be removed from office?

If Nifong is disbarred or has his license suspended he can not be the DA of Durham.

I've been wondering about how that would work. I assume that if he loses his law license he can no longer go before the bar in court. Does that mean he could keep his job and send his licensed ADAs into court? Or is there some firm rule that a DA is automatically fired? I don't know how that would work.

Look, he's been sworn in. He knows about the charges. He will remove himself from the case. Who can suspend him while Bar charges are pending? No one that I know of....and the resolution could take a couple of years.

He won't be able to practice law which, even in NC, is likely a prerequisite to hold the job.
