tagline.
Biased mainstream media--which generally is accurate, but only reports what it wishes and conveniently ignores what it doesn't--is one thing. Yes, you could point out a few examples such as the Dan Rather/Bush thing, but the point still stands.
Tabloid level journalism masquerading as news, reporting fantastic (as in related to fantasy) stories, is another.

And the above comment is not necessarily for this particular article, though it does seem to be appealing to anger rather than logic.

Better be safe than sorry. I'm phoning my congressmen later on today regarding this matter and am forwarding the link to friends as well.

Your general and very vague statement lacks credibility without any detailed information.

Of course this doesn't apply to those illegals who pay SS using false ID---(sarcasm).
To: Man50D
Illegal aliens already get SS and every other government endowment. This just makes it easier. If Bush signs this bill, heck, I'll call Pelosi's office to support impeachment.

Careful on your comments - there is a large cohort of Freepers who actually want amnesty and open borders and will come down on you like a hammer if you say that Bush is wrong on this (maybe this is why he wanted to "fix" Social Security - so they could pay for these Mexican retirement checks)

Hey, Maybe if the senior citizen crowd gets a whiff of what the invasion of CRIMINALS from Mexico will do to their rice bowl, they may just be able to get the attention of the criminals and clowns in Washington.

An analysis of the plan by the Center for Immigration Studies noted that at the end of 2003, the Social Security System owed retirees and current workers benefits valued at $14 trillion, with assets of only $3.5 trillion. SS has no assets. The SS Trust Fund contains IOUs in the form of non-market T-Bills, which can only be redeemed by the USG. The $3.5 trillion in the SSTF is carried as part of the national debt of almost $9 trillion under the category of intragovernmental holdings. They are not assets but liabilities.
SS is a pay as you go system. The current "surplus," revenue from the payroll tax versus pay outs will start declining in 2008 and the system will go negative in 2017. Congress has to raise taxes and/or decrease benefits to make the system solvent again.

"If Bush signs this, he is wrong."
That could be the biggest understatement so far (2007) on FR.
