NEW YORK (AFP) - Former New York mayor and 2008 presidential hopeful Rudolph Giuliani left detailed plans of his proposed bid for the White House in a hotel room, a tabloid reported.
The 140 pages of printed and handwritten text reveal how the Republican frontrunner intends to mount his campaign, complete with detailed plans to build a 100-million-dollar war chest this year, the New York Daily News reported.
"The loss of the battle plan is a remarkable breach in the high-stakes game of presidential politics and a potentially disastrous blunder for Giuliani in the early stages of his campaign," the paper said.
The Daily News said it was handed the dossier, complete with details of fund-raising, budgets and schedules, by a supporter of one of Giuliani's rivals. It said the file was left in a hotel room in an undisclosed location in the run-up to November's congressional elections.
One page in the battle plan reveals aides' concerns that "insurmountable" factors could scuttle Giuliani's run, notably issues surrounding his private business interests, disgraced former aides and one of his ex-wives.
Giuliani's spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.
Polls give the former New York mayor a slight lead over his closest rival for the Republican Party nomination, Senator John McCain.
This is silly and immature. Who's drawing up campaign plans? Rudy or his wife?
I don't know why you are replying to me with this link. I haven't picked a candidate yet for 2008. I just don't like smears and misinformation--or disinformation.
Could it have possibly been because you were the last post prior to my post that you are referring to.
That post was not meant to be directed to you firebrand. Its just an added article to the thread.
I haven't picked a candidate yet for 2008.
I never insinuated or assumed that you had.
I just don't like smears and misinformation--or disinformation.
You are not alone.
I think the convention is to reply to Number 1 if you are replying to the thread in general. Your replying to me implies that I need to think again about Giuliani. Misunderstanding.
Thanks! From a few people I talked to no one seems to think this was an official document. There is a money trail someplace for someone to have gotten this piece of luggage removed and not returned for several days.
Put a fork in Rudy...he is done. And I am a (former) supporter. It's all over. All the skeletons they had prepared themselves to defend are now exposed. As John Kerry would say "Au revoir".
Won't do him any good in the primaries, he's too liberal. He's even ready to spend like one.
Ugh. I was hoping you had left Freeper. Ugh. Reconsider STFU !
Rudy's on his 3rd marriage, he's pro-choice, pro-gay rights and pro-gun control. There is no way under the sun he ever gets the Republican nomination.
IF (heaven forbid) McCain gets it, he might choose Rudy as his running mate for name recognition and geographic balance purposes.
TOUGH TOENAILS...I'm here and I'm going to expose idiocy wherever I see it.
Or maybe Rudy left a phony document for the purpose of misleading the opposition.
MIS-LAID or MIS-LED, that is the question.
I would ask G. Gordon Liddy about this one, folks.
Who has the most to gain from this "happening"....
1) Rudy
2) Rudy's Democratic opponents
3) Rudy's Republican opponents
I say the same people who brought down Bernie the Police Commissioner........
I say the same people who brought down Bernie the Police Commissioner........
I am sure that some of the tactics used on Bernie will be used and Rudy's association with Bernie will also be a question, but overall it will amount to guilt by association unless other evidence proves different.
I like Rudy and what he has done for NYC. That was the reason why I could go out for lunch at 3AM from New York Hospital without being shot or mugged.
Rudy does seem to have a bias toward the police department. New York Citys Office of Emergency Management was located in building 7 at Rudy's request despite objections and pleas to locate it in Brooklyn.
That is good on a city level for crime fighting, but I am not sure it would be good on a national level. For instance, would he favor the Air Force over the Navy and the Marines?
Then why are you slandering Mrs. Giuliani?
