WASHINGTON Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.
As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

Very nice, concise comments. Well done.
I hope so too! Carter should have never been elected. National disgrace.
"Oh God Our Help in Ages Past"
ROFLMAO! You got that right!
O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home:
Under the shadow of thy throne,
thy saints have dwelt secure;
sufficient is thine arm alone,
and our defense is sure.
Before the hills in order stood,
or earth received her frame,
from everlasting thou art God,
to endless years the same.
A thousand ages in thy sight
are like an evening gone;
short as the watch that ends the night
before the rising sun.
Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
bears all its sons away;
they fly, forgotten, as a dream
dies at the opening day.
O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
be thou our guide while troubles last,
and our eternal home!
the choral and musical effort is flat out world class.......awesome ,truely awesome service
The other great hymn I want at my funeral. :) It's really the Episcopal hit parade today.
President Bush gave a good speech as always.
I thought Brokaw did a very nice job too.
Thanks for the links to the photos, Mo.

I was speaking against a third party, yet you come back with a personal low blow to me.
I did not insult you, did I? Is Brokaw a personal friend of yours?

Would you two quit it for heaven sakes. This should be a nice event not a place to nitpick. Geez......
That's why the President's ending comments about what cost Pres Ford the election were so welcome to me. I wish they would have showed Carter when he said the pardon was what probably cost him the election. We went from a President of integrity to the peanut farmer who didn't have a clue and still doesn't to this day.
Thanks for posting the words to that great hymn!
I loved W's tone. It was an excellent eulogy; he sounded strong and ready for what's ahead.
Truly.
Hello?
Girls have been wearing the awful bellbottoms (that sag from their fat hips to boot) for the last 15 years. It's a rehashed fad that won't DIE.
I didn't miss it...but I just didn't take it as a shot at W.
What a glorious rendition of that wonderful hymn.
