Summer snow is no tipping point for climate change
CSIRO research fellow Barrie Hunt has done everyone a service by blowing the whistle on the pessimistic hand-wringing that accompanies too much of the discussion on climate change and its relationship to the drought now gripping southeast Australia. As the retired head of the CSIRO's climate modelling program, Mr Hunt says there is nothing historically unusual about Australia's predicament, contrary to much of today's political blather. According to the CSIRO's model of 10,000 years of natural climate variability, the drought can be explained by natural variations in climate rather than global warming. Those looking to the drought or southern Australia's unseasonable summer snow as proof that global warming has wrecked the world's weather should take a cold shower.

Unfortunately, the TV Talking Head only paid this lip service while for days we heard all about the recent "Global Warming will cost more unless we do something now" report. And morning business TV shows jumped on the bandwagon with their "Cool the Globe" campaigns.
You would think so.
We definitly oughta $pend $everal trillion$ on it. sar/
If it's hot, that's "global warming."
If it's cold, that's "global warming."
If it rains, that's "global warming."
If it doesn't rain, that's "global warming."
If it snows, that's "global warming."
If it doesn't snow, that's "global warming."
If we get a hurricane, well that's because of "global warming."
If we don't get any hurricanes, well that's because of "global warming."
And on and on. People have bought this crap. Hook, line and sinker.
Every weather anomaly is indicative of global warming. Get with the program!
The only thing the myth known as global warming causes is a smugness attack and another opportunity to legislate us all back into the 19th century while stealing our current income and net worth.
There is no evidence of global warming.
NO, no. The 19th century isn't far enough back. After all we'd still have coal burning steam engines, movable type printing presses and Democracy.
Australia's 2006 weather (snow in the summertime, 10th or 11th warmest year) confirms cogitator's implication on another thread: trying to infer climate change from year-to-year weather (much less two back-to-back blizzards in CO, for example) is a fool's errand.
