...So is the Baltimore SUN. Almost every day the front page of the Maryland, ie local, section has an article with people looking mournful, about someone affected by the war in Iraq. I'm curious, did the Nazi death camp commanders report their murder stats with as much glee as America's disgusting DBM?

We need to know these people just so we can properly defend our country, even as crazy as they are.

snugs, I am late returning (husband had to have the computer to set up a new printer) but I want to tell you that you are so right about the Vice President being comfortable around strong women.
My father was an only child whose best friend on their ranch in Texas was his cousin, a girl. He was very attached to his mother, a strong woman herself. After he married my mother (a woman with a degree and a job) he bought her a car (in the days when families only had one car) and didn't kick up a fuss when she went back to teaching when I was in the fifth grade. In fact, he hired a babysitter and housekeeper (housekeeping was not her forte). He raised 4 strong girls who are very independent and treasure the support he gave us.
Cheney reminds me of my dad in that way. He treats his daughters as individuals, not as "girls."

#297, My friend just got me (for Christmas) "The Bush Family Cookbook", written by their long time Personal Chef and House Manager Ariel De Guzman, and his comments about the Bush Family really tell you the Difference between the Carters, the Clintons, and the Bush Family attitude about People of all walks of life, and how they treat them. The book is excellent and is somewhat Autobiographical about the Author. It is filled with great, easy to follow recipes, and lots of Colorful Pictures of those Dishes made from the Recipes. The book was written in 2005, but goes back to when mr. De Guzman was born in The Philippines, and through his Naval Career. He is a wonderful example of a great immigrant, and he is so humble, and patient, kind, it is no wonder that he is considered part of the Family. He wrote a really touching (Tearjerker) account of the Two Bush Family Dogs Millie and Ranger, and how much they loved him and he loved them.

I think it's a mistake to ignore name recog. Rudy and Condi both have huge name id.'s That puts them light years ahead of other potentials. Both are somewhat charismatic as well. All that counts.

Bubba actually has it made, if he starts misbehaving, it only makes hillary a more sympathetic figure once again.

"I was surprised...no, astounded...to hear Bill Sammon praise John Edwards the other night on the FNC panel."
My reaction exactly. What could he be thinking?
To: Phsstpok
You could be right, and if this happens it could actually cause a three way race which could get very interesting. Problem is if he is going to go independent he sure is waiting until the very ,very last hour to do it. Pragmatically speaking his chance would be far better just switching parties, but if he is not at the top of the ticket I don't think he would. And hillary will never give up her Queen status.

I'm glad I went back and found your notes. Congrats for getting through that. Do those two become more irritating every week, or is it just me? The President a turncoat??? Trying to find new ways to win the war hardly qualifies for that designation. He just had to try and find something ugly to say.

No way they could field an "all Mormon" ticket. Romney being a Mormon won't be an issue, and if someone else gets the nomination either Romney or Jon Huntsman from Utah could be the VP candidate and their being Mormons wouldn't be an issue (for most people).
I agree with the comment about Rudy and Condi having name recognition, but I think Rudy would be out for geographic and political balance with Romney. I would love it to be Condi but she insists she won't run and I believe her. I know it won't happen, but I liked the suggestions last week about Lynne Cheney for VP.

#327, why thank you, but I cannot claim it as my original thought. I cannot remember where I heard it first, but I too thought it was profound thinking and worth repeating. I am going to rack my brain to backtrack and figure out when and where I heard it. I believe it was from a Female caller responding to someone against the "Mormon" Romney on a Talk Show I was listening to on the way back from Sarasota. It may have been Schnitt and it may have been about three weeks ago or more. I may have to be hypnotized to remember . LOL!

It was a horrible show...and when Fred congratulated Frist on using the nuclear option to help Pres. Bush get his nominees my jaw hit the table.
If Mort had said it...I would have chalked it up as yet another example of partisan reporting...but Fred???
Why does he think we ended up with the Gang of 14??
