Four bombs go off in Bangkok
Nation Multimedia ^ | December 31, 2006

Four explosives went off almost simultaneously in Bangkok, injuring at least 20 people as the city people have just started to celebrate the New Year's eve.

One person was dead at the Big C supermarket, Sapan Kwai branch, where witness saw a man dropped a grenade from a pedestrian bridge, police said.

At least 20 were injured at the Victory Monument when a powerful bomb went off near a bus station.

At the Klong Toei area near the Na Ranong intersection, a bomb hidden in a trash can near a Chinese spirit shrine exploded and injured two bypassers. The explosion caused a secondary explosion to a number of cookinggas cylinders that were situated nearby.

At the Season Square Shopping Mall, a loud explosion went off at the parking space, creating a panic but no injury.

No matter who did it, MSM will blame Saddam execution for it.

The false prophet has zombie legions in Thailand. A few days ago two Buddhist teachers were killed and burned in Southern Thailand http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/BKK139386.htm

I think he's suggesting that, everytime a bomb goes off somewhere, it's not necessarily the work of Muslims. Witness the ETA blast in Madrid yesterday.

Hi dennisw-

You're 100% correct. The violence is essentially found in the southern region of the country where Muslims reside. This sort of outrageous and senseless violence isn't typically seen further north and towards the Bangkok, Chiang-Mai, and Chiang-Rai areas.

No, it was definately muslims. That is not the point. The idiotic comments on threads are simply annoying and not needed. There is more breaking news on this. I guess everyone will hear about it soon when it is picked up by AP or Reuters. If the mods on here decide to do their jobs, I will start posting again.

Because of stupid posts like this, I will no longer be posting any first hand information on this thread. I am living in Bangkok and watching this unfold on local news. You just lost your source. Have a nice New Years.

killjoy, I think you miss the point. Here in the United States there were coordinated attacks by Muslims on September 11, 2001. Instead of targeting the source of the attacks (Muslims) everyone in America has to deal with restrictions on travel and other inconveniences.
The sarcasm you see is an outpouring of anger over political correctness trumping what some view as common sense.

As to what has happened, do you think these are attacks by or against the juntas? Any predominant vector for the attacks?

Do you not understand irony and sarcasm over there in Thailand? The other posters are merely pointing out the absurdity of the mass media here in the U.S. of reporting these bombings in the most politically correct manner, never mentioning that they are likely perpetrated by Islamic terrorists who have been at war with the western world for decades. Furthermore, the U.S. mass media absolutely hate our President Bush and will go out of their way to never report anything that might somehow justify the "war on terror" that he has initiated.

Ironically, it is the politically correct liberals whom the Muslims most want to eradicate from the face of the earth (aside from the Jews) because of their decadent lifestyle. They also see Bangkok as a decadent place as well.

So when we make comments like "Maybe it was those Jehovah's Witnesses again," we are simply pointing out the absurdity of our mass media in reporting these events.

MUSLIMS hard at work in Thailand--->>>

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/BKK139386.htm

YALA, Thailand, Dec 29 (Reuters) - Suspected separatists shot dead two Buddhist teachers on Friday and burnt their bodies in Thailand's rebellious Muslim south, police said, the latest attack in a three-year insurgency that has killed more than 1,800.

The teachers were ambushed in their pickup truck only 300 metres (yards) from the village school where they taught in the southern province of Yala, police said. Security forces are bracing for a new round of attacks on government buildings, officials and civilians to mark the third anniversary of the renewed insurgency on January 4, police said.

"We knew they were going to do it, but we didn't know the target," Police Colonel Pumipetch Pipatpetchpoom said of the attackers. "Our security checkpoints have blocked them from entering the city, so they had to do it in a village," he added.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the violence which has seen almost daily gun and bomb attacks in the three predominantly Muslim southern provinces bordering Malaysia.

Thailand's military-appointed government has embarked on a peace drive in the Malay-speaking region, an independent sultanate until the Buddhist-dominated Bangkok government annexed it a century ago. But the attacks have continued.

The Education Ministry said this week 110 schools had been hit by arson attacks and 71 teachers and school staff killed in attacks since January 2004.

You truly know nothing about Thailand. There is ONE Muslim General. The army is over 90 oercent Buddhist as is most of the country.

Please learn something if you feel you must comment.

You're right...

Having gotten most of my information here on FR and, secondarily, from US media sources, I acknowledge the boundless depths of my ignorance.

I bow to your immensely greater knowledge.

Don't let it make you leave. Thank you for the report, and you should get credit for reporting it here first.

The stampede to post such "brilliant" observations on threads such as these is an unavoidable characteristic of the forum where they appear. I liken it to thread penis-envy, and there's nothing one can do about it.

99% of it does have to do with Muslims. Thailand has a problem with Muslims. Previously, it was confined to the south, but there are no walls keeping them from the capital.

ETA bombed an empty parking lot. The Thailand thugs were after casualties - not just loud noises, smoke and scared people.

Muslims are responsible for the greatest number of casualties.

I disagree. If the sarcasm is pointed at the media (which deserve the sarcasm), then it's falling wide of the mark.
